My friend did delayed entry so he could finish high school and have some fun over the summer. He was glad he did that.

If your ship out date is the same, it's deffinitely better to wait to sign up. Why?
Signing up now won't have any positive affect at all on you. Even if you are eager to go, it doesn't matter. Your ship out date won't change.
The possible negative effects are you will have less time as a private citizen with the ability to change your mind, increase the negative consequences if something should happen that you want or need to postpone or cancel going in for whatever reason, and possibly decrease you enlistment bonus because you joined the delayed entry program.
It's always best to take the choice with the least possibility for negative consequences.
Be safe, and Thank You for serving.

I know just about everyone will say wait...but as for the Corps, when i was in boot camp there were people who join about a week ago a almost a year (like myself) i was so much better off then the 1-2 week or monthers theres alot of learing, not only rank structue but the genern orders of a sentry, and leadership traits...you can do this all with your recruiter he will help you, but if you never go down to MEPS and dont DEP in then you cant really get the wwelcome abord packet, and start getting physically or mentally prepaired...

The pro I can think of for waiting is the more time to take care of things at home, have some fun, finish up school, whatever. The only con to joining the delayed entry program is it can sometimes effect signing bonuses and certain benefits. Be sure to ask about that.

If you choose to go ahead and sign tommorrow, you will be obligated to military service because even if you are delayed entry, you are not a full military service member until you swear in for the last time. A pro to signing in tommorrow would be that you will gain time in service. Good Luck. Semper Fi.

Finish High School first, I would recommend being in the delayed entry program this program will prepare you more for boot camp and your military career. It was one of the smartest things I ever did.

Do not join before the summer. The basic training camps for the marines are in hot nasty places. Its best to try to get into boot camp during the fall and winter months. You do not want to be in Camp Lejeune in summer. Trust me on this. Be sure to get a couple of guaranteed schools too, specialize.

I would wait and sign up in April.
That way you have a few more months to think about it, and make sure it's what you want to do.
If you do go God Bless You!
You are my hero!
You and all the other members of the military!

Once you sign the paperwork, the sooner you leave the bigger your enlistment bonus will be. If you wait, then your bonus will be smaller. If the date's the same, just wait it out. You may end up with more money later. :)

The hiring freeze probably gained't ensue yet they're being rather selective about the persons they're taking in now. also your deliver date is determined with techniques out of your pastime interior the army. some human beings deliver over a 365 days once they signal and others like me deliver 2 months once they signal.
