Most cops I've delt with were courteous and respectful. It's just the few douchebags that make everyone else look like one.

So to answer your question, the amount of police misconduct in the US is overexaggerated. Especially after Rodney King.

I do not believe that police misconduct is rampant. I believe most police officers are honest, hard working people who have a genuine concern for the citizens of their community. I believe that there are bad cops as there are bad people in every profession and because society holds police officers to a higher moral standard we make a bid deal out of the few bad officers that surface from time to time.

Several widely publicized incidents involving bad officers have exaggerated the frequency of police officers misconduct. Every barrel has a few bad apples.

~Police misconduct and performance ARE rampant in the US!!! They have God complex's and know that their fellow officers will back them up no matter what they do.
Even if the victim is handcuffed and laying on the ground, he's surrounded by police officers and they're still kicking and using a tazer gun on him. I don't care what anyone says, that is POLICE BRUTALITY. The guy is now dead. How can that be exaggerated?
I know first hand that they get off on police brutality. They draw their own conclusions and play judge and jury! That's not their job and we should not be considered guilty before our trials, but that's ALWAYS the case.
I don't believe in "good" officers anymore because, like I said, they will back up the bad policeman's story because they work together. That then makes the "good" police officers BAD!
Thank you for your question. All is not well in the US with the police FORCE.~

I think that police are in more danger now than in the past, and that tends to lead to that "SWAT" mentality.

We had a Mexican Immigrant save his money for years to buy a new truck, he withdrew cash and paid cash for it. The dealership reported it a suspicious and they sent the SWAT team because they thought it was drug related.

Well, they busted down his door and when he woke up he had strange men in his house in the middle of the night so he defended himself and pulled a gun. They shot him dead and his wife said they never said they were the police.

The police these days tend to swat flies with sledge hammers.

I believe most police are honest hard working people doing a tough job. Some tend to be overzealous though.

And some are just the victim of bad people trying to worm out by destroying an officer to cast doubt on their case.

No...it is all exagerated. It is like any profession you only hear about the bad stuff that happens with a very small percentage of the people. Sad really. Most police officers are decent human beings just doing their job. I do believe that crime is rampant in the U.S.

YES!!!!!! I really do think police misconduct and performance are rampant in the U.S. I think they are always overstepping their boundaries. They think because they have a badge and a gun that it makes them invincible and i don't like it. Someone needs to stop them I also think a few bad apples can spoil the bunch. Those bad officers make it hard on the good ones (if there is such a thing as a good officer)

No, in certain local areas it may be, but to generalize a nationwide epidemic over the ones publicized is wrong to do.

Only if you're poor...or black (because then everyone just assumes you're poor).
