The original sin was not an apple, nor was it sex as you persieve sex, That Serpent was a upright creature that could talk & was a worker for Adam That serpent was not the devil, but he was persuaded by the devil, God had all the trees in the Garden for food, EVERY TREE FOR FOOD, Except the 2 trees That was not growing out of the Gornd, These 2 TREES was not growning out of the Ground, But was in the midst of the garden, How can you get 2 literal trees in the same spot & not are not growing out of the Ground, Those 2 trees was the tree of life, & everyone that would have been born under that tree would hve ben born with eternal life, But Since the serpent Tempted Eve & she now knows this sexul act could also be use for pleasure, Then they lost the perfect time cycle that a woman can conceieve, Eve would have known exatly when it was time to have another offspring of God with eternal life, But we see the curse now & LOOK CLOSLEY NOW & NOT BEFORE, God curses the serpent & strip him of his rms & legs & Gen 3. 14-15 Then God goes to Eve & he curses her reproductive organs, Gen 3:16 Then God goes to ASdam & sine Adan no longer has a worker God tells Adam that now you will earn thy living by the sweat of thy face. In the woman curse to day there is not ONE woman that can tell exactly when she can concieve, God took that away from her & greatly Multiply her sorows & conceptions. But God never took that knowlege away from the animal kingdom.

In the bible, it says that it was biting into the forbidden fruit. However, it could simply be a metaphor. But I think that it's more likely to be the forbidden fruit, since God wanted Adam and Eve to reproduce, just like the rest of the animals, to fill up the planet.

The apple may have been symbolic. All we know for certain is that Adam and Eve disobeyed God, after Satan lied to them about the effects of such disobedience. No, sex was not the forbidden fruit. Adam and Eve were spouses, and were expected by God to produce children. Why would God have created Adam and Eve with sexual organs and sexual desires if He did not want them to have intercourse as spouses?? And where would the rest of the human race have come from if they didn't??

God had told them to "be fruitful and become many" (Gen 1:28). So it could not have been a sin for them to have sex. God had joined them together as man and woman and their marriage had Gods blessing. (Gen 2:22-24)
God had given them everything. The Paradiselike garden, the whole earth, food and eternity in perfection.
The tree was a symbol of God's right to determine or set the standards for man as to what is "good" (approved by God) and what is "bad" (condemned by God).
Therefore, to violate the boundaries of the prohibited area by eating of "the tree of the knowledge of good and bad" would be an invasion of or a revolt against God's domain and authority.
They did not appreciate their Creator and chose to disobey His law.
Genesis 2:17 - God states the law to Adam.
Genesis 3:3 - Eve knew too.
Genesis 3:17 - Adam is told what the wrong was.
3:19 - They are sentenced to death and put out of the garden.

Sex came after the fall, so your bf is right. God gave them everything but told them not to touch the one tree. Eve was deceived by Satan. "Did God really say...?" Her sin was not believing God. Disobedience. Basic stuff.
Why would sex be a sin?? God told them to be fruitful and multiply. Are you suggesting that obeying this command was a sin?? I don't think that is accurate at all. The Angelina Jolie movie is not the definition of original sin. :)

The "first sin" was Eve disobeying God and eating the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God created people to be sexual in nature, why would that be evil? No, it was Eve being tempted by the devil and disobeying God's ONLY rule for them.

I agree with your bf. God created sex... he made it pleasurable so we would procreate. He intended Eve to be Adams wife.
He also wanted for us to be obedient, but gave us free will to choose.
Had we been obedient to him from the beginning, it would have been a whole different world.

I dont think it was sex at all. Sex was made to be enjoyed, created by God. I think the forbidden fruit was just that, fruit.

Actually, most traditional interpreters say it was the act of disobedience.
You're a good Augustinian, though. Manichaeism. Meh. Poisoned the well for millennia.
