Kierkegaard a very intelligent philosopher and a critic of modern Christianity had this to say about Christiniaty...

When Christianity entered the world it presupposed want, distress, the suffering of the anguished conscience, the hunger that cries out only for food – and then Christianity was the food. Nowadays we think that we have to offer appetizers before we can get people to enter into faith. We have changed Christianity from a radical cure into a minor precaution, like something used to prevent colds, toothaches, and the like. And strangely enough, although every inventor of drops, pills, and so on, "which do neither good nor harm," trumpets his medicine as a miracle balm, Christianity is proclaimed in very muted tones.

When we receive a package we unwrap it to get at the contents. Christianity is a gift from God, but instead of receiving the gift, we have undertaken to wrap it up, and each generation has furnished a new wrapping around the others.

Christianity - MUTED?

Tell me that when your kids are taken from you because you have a different religion.
Tell me that when those kids are harassed, attacked, and even expelled from school because the religious symbol they wear around their neck isn't a cross.
Tell me that when you lose your job because your boss thinks that your religion is the work of Satan.
Tell me that when the cops come onto your property and disrupt your religious services because your fundamentalist neighbor hates you for not sharing his idea of what God is.
Tell me that when you're accused on NATIONAL TELEVISION of being the reason that 9/11 happened, and that all the bad things in society are the fault of you and those like you who don't grovel at the base of the cross.

If that's MUTED Christianity, I'd hate to see what it would be like unleashed.

...oh yeah. We have seen it, or the Islamic version of it.

The Taliban.

Religion does nothing for the soul but leave it empty. It's a relationship with Jesus Christ who is the eternal fountain of life that fills us to overflowing. He who comes to him will never thirst.

When the relationship with him is non-existent the person is left hungry, empty. So the religion is wrapped up and made pretty in order to be more enticing, but it will never be a fulfilling answer.

True Christianity never needs to be repackaged in order to appease the next generation... it's always the same.....a relationship with Jesus Christ.

it's poetic and charming but I don't see much philosophy in it. What's his point? is he for christianity or opposed to it? Does he see it as a gift or a curse? and since when is christianity proclaimed in muted tones? it's the world's largest religion.

That's true.

Especially among people who want Christianity to "change along with the times".

Society's laws are relative.

God's laws are absolute.
