My bosses are on my side. I have gotten excellent evaluation, even yesterday my boss complimented me on how I'd been doing well and thanked me for my hard work. I am still learning and still making mistakes, but I do try hard and treat everyone with respect. I am friends with several co-workers. This girl couldn't stand it that I was complimented yesterday by my boss. She made the dire mistake of talking about me in the breakroom with the door wide open, where I could hear every word. I kept my cool, and simply sent her an e-mail saying, please come to me if you have a problem with how I'm doing my work. She unloads all of this crap about how I'm undeserving and how she works harder than me, blah, blah blah...The girl has been at this company for four years and can't seem to "move up." Is she pissed that I'm moving up faster? Is she jealous? My bosses are cool with me-maybe she's pissed about that? I just don't know. I thought this person was trustworthy.

Do you job to the best of your ability and do not worry about what this co-worker either thinks or says. Sounds kind of sad but if she is complaining about you then she is saving someone else's backside. Be the bigger person and continue to treat her friendly as she is acting very immature, and trust me when I tell you that her behaviour and/or remarks will get to the supervisors eventually and they will deal with it. We all have people with whom we have to share our work environments that talk behind people's backs and majority of time it is due to jealousy or insecurity. You did the right thing by e-mailing her and asking her to direct the comments to you face to face, and I bet she hasn't responded to this message either. Continue to do what you are being paid for and where hired for and do not allow this poisonous co-worker to affect your output. Best of luck with this situation and I hope that you are able to advance and rise within the company quicker then her just to piss her off a little more. Your other co-workers will soon tire of her ranting also.

It's a female thing, hon. I worked in an office w/f & it's catty. No matter how much u like them, or u think they like u, the chance 4 someone 2 start something up is just 2 strong 4 some of us 2 pass up. Andif the boss is complimenting u, and the rest of them know it, u best believe u're going to be the topic to trash 4 the day. B/fore it's all over, u're probably going to be labelled a buttkisser, too! If it gets 2 be too much 4 u, and if your boss is male, tell him that it's making u uncomfortable. A male boss has a way of taking care of these kinds of problems w/out the finger coming back and pointing at u.

The most likely thing is jealousy, but it could also be that she's been slacking and your dedication is making her attitude really stick out. It's going to be hard, but try to ignore what she says.
Avoid doing projects with her if you can. When pressed for an answer why, simply say you do not feel you two complement each others' work.
After that, just remain respectful to everyone, including her. She'll stick out as the fool she is.

Here's the 5-second drill: SHE is the problem, not you. She needs to get over herself. If she's going to be that petty and gossip about you behind her back, let her -- if your bosses are on your side as you say, that'll eventually come back to bite her in the @$$. Don't give her a second thought; she doesn't write your ticket. Just keep doing a good job and reap the rewards.

This is office gossip, bitching, bullshit. And it's not for you to handle, it's for your boss to handle. If he doesn't know about it, then let him know what you overheard and ask him to address the situation before office morale gets out of hand.

it's called jealousy.
don't get drawn into the drama, just avoid, avoid, avoid - be professional and your bosses will respect you even more.
now you know what kind of person she really is.

Give her the finger, laugh in her face, and fire her the second you have the power to do so.
