modern day Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus and I think that sucks its all commecial now and about the presents unless each individual makes a difference in their own family on how they celebrate it but that won't change society.. I am Roman Catholic by baptism but I do not agree with the catholic church on everything I think religion is man made and your right every religion thinks your wrong unless you believe what they do. No one has the right to pass judgement on anyone else. We will all be judged when our time comes by our own God.

At least you are honest enough to not lump all Christians into one group. 80% may be a little high but I would agree that Christianity has its share of hypocrites - that doesn't mean the whole of modern Christianity has moved away from the teachings of Jesus. Let's look at the ones you picked:
1. Jesus does not teach that everyone is a child of God. Only those who have accepted Christ as Savior are considered his children. Also, you need to distinguish between spurning someone's beliefs and disagreeing with them. If a Christian disagrees with your beliefs, that does not mean he has spurned you. Jesus called the Pharisees snakes and hypocrites!
2. The Golden Rule - I am not sure what you mean by apostolic forces its nature on others. The golden rule should be followe by Christians.
3. Obviously, Jesus is the fufillment of many of the traditions. Do not mix Catholicism with true Christianity.
4. What happens politically is not the same as what the church does spiritually. Not all Christians support the war but the Bible does not teach anywhere that a nation is not allowed to defend itself from a perceived threat.
5. Bush was not elected by only the "pious." A lot of Christians voted for Bush because they realized that John Kerry was not a very good alternative. And as a Christain, I do not agree with everything that Bush has done or support the idea that he won't be judged just because he claims to be a Christian.
6. I do believe that homosexuality is taught by the Bible to be a sin. That does not mean I hate homosexuals. Any Christian that does needs to check their hearts.
We are all humans, and people make mistakes. We do not always live up to what we know is true but we are stiving just the same. Only God knows the hearts of everyone, so unless you have done a survery of all the Christians in world, have watched the life that they live, and listened to what they believe, don't make outlandish statements that are only opinion and not fact.

well, the people who think the Messiah has yet to come are usually Jews and not Christians...Christians believe that Jesus, the Christ, was the Messiah.
Look, just because people may believe that, does not take away from the fact that Jesus was God made man.
Not all Christians are like little Jesus' running around preaching the Gospel. No, far from it. Even Peter sinned, and he was made the head Apostle. A lot of the stuff you have written is misconstrued in some way, but, sadly, some of it is true. First off, Christ was a non-traditionalist because the tradition then was of the Jews...he started a new tradition before his passion when he said, THIS IS MY BODY, THIS IS MY BLOOD; DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. Thats sounds like...you know, the start of a tradition.
As you can see, people are just going to say...I'll pray for you...read the Bible and it will make everything better, well, it takes alittle more than that.
I'm not going to write anoymore, because beyond the first 10 lines, PEOPLE TEND TO STOP READING. But if you would like, you can email me...anyone can. mr_lump86@yahoo.com

You're right in the fact that all Christians do not conform to your list.
I believe that there are many in other religions that think the same opinions as you have listed, such as: "Spurn those who think differently" and "steeped in tradition and sacrament". (If there are those Christians who spurn others or try to force their beliefs on a person who believes differently, they may want to re-examine the scriptures.)
The attack on 9/11 was an attack by Muslim extremists on a nation where the major religion is Christian. The Christian religion did not respond with these wars, the nation of the U.S. did. (I would not have attacked Iraq. I believed it to be a mistake before the troops went in.)
Many Fundamental Christians voted for George Bush but many other people did also. Everyone in this country can vote for whoever they want.
As for the homo-sexual statement, the Christians that I am personally associated with, live by the philosophy of loving the sinner and hating the sin. (One of my closest, life-long friends is gay. He knows that I don't agree with his lifestyle, but it hasn't interfered with our friendship. I treat him the same as any other friend.)

Because Jesus is the whole reason for Christianity. Christianity is used so loosely in today's society it comes across as alot of different ideas. The TRUE Faith of Christianity is based on the teachings that Christ taught, which are right, and what is said in the Bible, which is the true complete Word of God. So actually it is only a small spectrum instead of what people see it as of today.

I can't speak for everyone else but the way you have discribed the christians there are not accurate. first one, I am not apostolic, but I do know some people who are, and they do not force, they just want other people to believe the same thing. the second C, I am not a huge tradition person, (I speak for myself and my family). the 3rd, we did not want people to attack us for no reason, we simply fought back. they should not be allowed to hurt us for no reason at all. the fourth c, that is such a dumb comment, I won't even dignify it with an answer. the fifth c, homo-sexuality is a sin. so is lying, cheating, killing (for no reason), and many others. they can change and repent, but as with any other sin, it seperates you from God. Christians have a relationship with Jesus and we believe that he died for us to save us from ourselves. You can't make these generalzations without meeting most Christians alive.

I agree, too many people are just like you say. I would lower that 80% to 30% however. The fundies are in the minority in this country. I hope their numbers are dropping everyday. Many Christians, in fact, do not believe in revelations at all.
It is the fundamentalists of all religions that turn us away from religion surely, but also God. It happened to me. Every word you wrote is exactly true about the religious fanatics in the world.

Because believers in these days do an terrible lot of cherry-opting for at the elements and scriptures of their e-book they learn and the elements they readily do not learn. I feel the predominant main issue fairly is that such a lot of placed such a lot inventory into what used to be stated approximately jesus through the "apostle" paul. These persons might declare to be christians...however as a substitute of seeking to be "christians"...why are not able to they only be extra like Christ? This is the predominant main issue I have with the hypocrisy of this complete perception procedure. You name your self after a person who you act not anything like...do you fairly feel he will wish to have something to do with you?

Do you know how many different kinds of Christians there are today? at least 85 major denominations.
I am sure you've done a careful survey of each before lumping them all together as people who spurn, wage war, and hate homosexuals.
ooooh. well. I admit, I've lost my temper. so here's what I'll do. I'll get off YA (I should anyway) and before I go to bed, I'll pray for both of us. I'll pray both for my brothers and sisters in Christ, asking Him for forigveness because you're right, we do fall short of His perfection--and we should be careful because we are witnesses.... and I'll pray for you---for a uncynical heart--I hope the sinfulness of His followers doesn't keep you from chasing Jesus for His truth.
God bless. g'night

Jesus was tempted on an everyday basis and resisted the temptation and was persecuted because of his religion just like most of us today, the Church leaders of Jesus's time were also the ones persecuting him and he proved his innocence and them wrong also but I do not agree with most christian churches of today because they all have different interpretations of the Bible. But America is the worst example for a christian country because sin is in the streets everywhere, and is more like a present day Babylon.
