What do the Western World think about "Muslims"?

What is the Idea that The Western World have about Islamic Culture and Religion?

Since many of my friends are Muslim they're religion is fine with me as long as they don't try to get me to convert but the same goes for Christians or any other religion here. I like certain things about their culture and their food is great!

quite backward, honestly. It once was very promising, with astronomers and scientists being very important, but Arab culture and religion (I don't think there's a difference) has gone in reverse ever since Islam became stronger.

They have been unable to modernise because they somehow feel (I suspect) that they would insult Allah or the Prophet. Just a small example: It would make perfect sense to bury someone within 24 hours if you are a nomadic people living in the desert. But now, if say an Arab prince dies, EVERYBODY has to drop whatever they are doing to make it on time to the funeral. That is ridiculous.

Well, some of us take individuals for their worth and not categorize them by the company they keep. Those who lump all together have been getting some pretty bad pictures of that culture lately. Too bad, Muslims have given the world so much in the past. Now, they have nut jobs like Ineedajob in Iran ranting and raving about destroying the world. I am beginning to think he is the illegitimate son of Hitler. Merry Christmas.

Most people openly accept them. I'm not sure what you're looking for.

You know, the "western world" has Mennonites and Apostolic Christian churches which strongly resemble the family, community, and moral law of the Muslim communities. The basic difference (glossing over Jesus is God)? They are probably more humble as an ideal.

What do you think about that?

I think most people generally understand that most Musilms are moderates, but keep running into the same problem that is inherent in all religions: extremism. "Fundamentalists", "Extremists", "Jihadists" are all terms we've come to cringe at. I don't single this point out against Musilms though, I also point it squarely at Christians, and even to an extent, orthodox Jews. If you're living according to the exact rule of a book from 2000 years ago uncompromisingly, you're bound to run into problems.

Many of the recent events in the world just leave the West shaking their heads - in response to Musilm cartoons depicting how violent Islam is, people rioted causing hundreds of injuries and several deaths. If that's not irony, I don't know what is.

well i would say that if they watch tv and listen to what the media says about islam then they think of it real bad. but if they study about islam using the right source then they wont have that misunderstanding towards islam and muslims. islam is a very peaceful and unique religion that people easily misunderstand through media, since that is the only source they have.

Muslims need to convert to a genuine belief that is peaceful, or continue to die at the hands of their own brethren!

Mohammed was an outcast, as a murderer, from his own people.

Then, Mohammed gathered together more outcast murderers, and, he went back and conquered, raped, murdered, all his people and had his scribe write that his pathological behavior was some kind of revelation from some god he named Allah.

Now, we have 1% of 1.5 billion 'believers' blowing themselves up to try to build an empire from Spain across the world to Malay!

I say that EVIL is still EVIL, though you try to cloak it behind nice words, and try to promote it as 'peaceful'. It is NOT 'peaceful'!

The Koran even advocates that there is no sin in any of that deceit, murder, theft, lies, when perpetrated upon 'non-muslims'.

I have seen the words of the Koran, the writings of the Mullahs, and the Imans, that these are the choices:

Men will convert to Islam, and commit to the 'fight', or die.

Women will submit to the rapists, then die.

Children will submit to the rapists, then die.

Islam is a 7th Century guerilla warfare political movement with tenets of faith to hold the followers together as they commit horrid atrocities against innocent peoples!

Witness the Darfur, and kidnappings, murders, bombings, Shia law, across the globe, censorship, lies by leaders, the fake 'cartoons' paraded in Syrian streets, to incite their followers to war against any democratic governments!

Those very fond of sex might like to embrace it as each one of the beleivers for the simple belife they have in that religons will be gifted with dozens of young damsels of equal age with swelling breast to enjoy for eterntiy in heaven without having anyresponsibilty to maintain them. . what else do the westerners would want ?(It is not known dozens of what the women belivers and the aged men and women would be gifted with to have sex for eternity.) But one thing is sure that theywould be proveided with dozens to have sex for ever .( vide chapter 78 "Al-Naba" of Holy quoran) It is anybody's quess what the westerners who value sex as the foremost mission of life would think of this religion.

Well, since they are trying to kill us all in the name of "Allah" I don't think too highly of them.

They think that their Jesus can beat our Allah! Muslims are backward, wife beaters, religious fanatics, illiterate. But they have to admit we can make carpets/ rugs better than any one in the world.
