I think the white house is a universal symbol for america not the actual president and should therefore be decorated so as to represent all religous holidays relevant to the country. Its a major waste of money though. It can be much better spent. What jacks saying is also sadly true. Tolerance is lacking in america. This shouldnt even be a issue

The decorations should still go up and such a President should preside over all the festivities with some minor alterations. The residential part of the White House and the Oval Office, however, should not be decorated as that is the President's home and workplace.

The ornaments on the White abode Christmas tree were embellished by communities in the course of the country this 12 months. i'm particular that none of them were embellished with both Mao or Hedda Lettuce, or maybe if someone did that as a comic book tale, those ornaments does no longer have lengthy gone on the tree, therefore making this both a lie from this website, or this website falling for a lie. BTW, Doonan wasn't in cost of the ornaments. those were despatched out to community communities around the country to be embellished. So even if those images were positioned on and by some ability slipped previous to get onto the tree, it truly is not using any action by the Obamas or Doonan.

Perhaps when other religions celebrate Christmas and Easter for that matter, they will be more represented during the Christmas season at the Whitehouse.
(Whitehouse has an awesome Easter Egg Hunt each year)
Why don't people get this if you do not observe Christmas your particular religion will not be represented in Christmas traditions.
HANUKKAH!! Look at that the Whitehouse decorates for Hanukkah. see link below
OH NO!!! this can't be true everyone knows the Whitehouse does not respect non-christian traditions
See Presidential message on Kwanzaa, which celebrates the traditional African values ... based on early harvest gatherings called matunda ya kwanza, or first fruits. ...www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/12/20021220-4.html - 20k - Guess the premise for your ?? is all wrong. maybe you should have asked what non christian celebrations are observed at the Whitehouse each year?

I agree with you about public funds not being used to celebrate religious holidays. Our country has more important things we should be spending out money on.
But to answer your question, if a Jewish president were to be in office (which I think would be a huge achievement for this country), I really would have no problem with the Hanukkah decorations.

It's his home. Let him decorate it the way and when he wants.
If Christmas is a federal holiday, then perhaps there should be at least some token Christmassy decorations on the exterior - at least a few coloured lights.
In general, elaborate religious decorations of any kind should probably come out of pocket. But I wouldn't make a big issue of it.

Heck yes we would still decorate the white house! And if the Jew objects we'll just sing "TRADITION" while we do it. We'd do the same if we get a Mormon as a president too.

I believe if you elected a Jewish president the U.S. would have another civil war.
