If your horse is not experiencing enough pain when you kick it, I have some adivice. There are numerous types of spurs that will aid in bringing excruciating pain to your horse. If your horse is still not hurting as much as you like, try clubing it on the head with a large stick or baseball bat. (hint: an aluminum baseball bat will increase your swing speed and enable you to hit harder and more repeatedly than a standard wooden bat). Good luck abusing your horse, and I hope he suffers lots of pain.

If by this you mean "Does it hurt the horse to have a shoe nailed onto its hoof," the answer is no, not if it is done properly.
The part of the hoof that the shoer puts the nail through is comparable to the part of our fingernail that grows out and has no feeling. The shoer can put a nail through this part and the horse has no sensation of it.
The things that can cause the horse pain are (1) if the shoer inadvertently sends a nail into the part of the hoof that does have feeling; (2) if in trimming the hoof, the shoer trims too much and gets into the part that has feeling (this is like if you trim your own nails too far down; and (3) if for some reason the shoe is incorrectly fitted and it causes the horse pain.
Good shoers take their time to do a good job of trimming and shoeing, knowing that through their efforts they can enhance a horse's athletic capabilities or destroy them. They also know that if they hurt a horse in the process of doing their job, that will make the horse much harder to handle the next time he/she is shod. This is something shoers want to avoid.
It's my observation that most horses, once they are used to being handled by the shoer, are relaxed and untroubled by what the shoer is doing to their feet.

If you mean does it hurt when they accidently hit their fronlt leg with the back one's shoe. Yeah it hurt and can cause cuts and scrapes on the leg that got hit.
If you mean does it hurt then they hammer the nails into the shoes not if the farrier does it right.

This type of injury has a name, as it is not uncommon in racing.
GRAB A QUARTER- To strike the side of a front foot with a hind foot. This is racetrack jargon that would be expressed more clearly by saying that the horse overstepped or overreached and cut himself; reserve grabbed a quarter for direct quotes.

No. Does it hurt you when you clip your finger nails? That is where the nail goes in when shoeing a horse.
