I'm a Western woman dating an Asian man. It seems I'm much more likely to bring up a conflict with him, than he is with me.

Of course, I'm aware of different styles of communication in different cultures, as well as individuals. But I just can't help but wonder, since woman are "relational," if we're not more likely to be aware that a conflict exists, and sooner than men.

What do you think?

Women in our society are taught to talk about their feelings (except for anger and lust - it's considered 'unladylike' for women to feel either of those emotions). Men are told we're supposed to hold all of our feelings inside (except for anger and lust - the only two emotions men are allowed to have).

So, guys might be just as aware of a conflict in a relationship as women, but we don't have the emotional vocabulary most women have. The average woman has a lifetime of experience with talking about all of her feelings (except for anger and lust) in great detail. Guys, on the other hand, can only express our anger and lust we never talk about all our other feelings.

So, that means the man has no way of dealing with his relationship problems, other than sex or violence. The woman wants to talk about it, but the guy is not able or willing to have the kind of emotional conversations the woman has with her mom, sisters, aunts or girlfriends.

This causes a LOT of relationshp problems!

Of course women are aware of the conflict before men...because most of the time the women cause the conflict...the woman is pissed about something the man did and the guy has no idea what he did...or the shes even pissed...

so the reason women know about conflict before men is because they usually are the ones sowing the conflict

Sweetheart, most of the time we are ignoring what comes out of your mouth. If a conflict starts brewing, you should bring it up to him in a non-nagging kind of way. We are just happy we things go, if you are smart, just go with the flow.

i say we are aware, more than men. see we are also more fragile than men. that's why we do that. we think up anything that can go wrong before it even does. and we try to protect ourselves by attacking the problem sooner. and if we didn't think of that, we would be the man in the relationship

More likely women cause the conflict!
Men just let many problems slide, becuse you have to pick and choose your battles.
Women seem to want to fight them all!

of course, women are more sensitive, meaning they sense oncoming problems before a man would. sometimes, just leaving things alone will allow the problem to pass painlessly. Othertimes, the conflict needs to be addressed immediatly. You have to trust your gut,

Yea women just like to nag. lol

No seriously, I think this is true. Woman are little more in tune to the relationship than men. Men we are fight now and forget about it. Woman are fight now, think about it later, figure out why it happened and then talk about a solution.

some men are more sensitive than women. only that women are mostly able to verbalize their mind than men who thinks a lot before speaking. there are exceptions to this however.

you talk it over with your partner and discover more. this could be an opportunity for both of you to know each other well.

Yes, because men don't want to believe the truth when they see something wrong they just hope that it'll change.. Real women can see when change needs to occur or when some thing needs to happen... men feel if they ignore it.... it'll go away
