Cancer of the mouth is caused by chronic irritation. Malignancies are ususally squamous cell cancers. In the early stages there is often no symptoms. Later the most frequent symptom is a painless sore or mass that will not heal. As it progresses you can have difficulty chewing swallowing or speaking. Some people complain of tenderness, coughing up blood tinged mucous, or enlarged cervial lymph nodes. The only way to know for sure is to see your DR and he can do an oral exam and take biopsies of suspicious lesions.

Not sure about the symptoms but I believe it appears as a small white bump or bumps. Oral cancer looks nothing like you would expect cancer to appear and is very small and non threatening in early stages. You need to reference a medical book though because it is too serious of an issue to not investigate as fully as possible.

Your dentist will tell you if you got it when you go for a check up.
Discoloration of the tissues, sores that don't heal primarily.
