That's why they are called Christ-ians i.e. "little Christs". None of us measures up completely. Being a Chrsistian SHOULD be a life of growth, becoming MORE LIKE Christ.
It's true than many take it like it was one time pill that will cure us of all diseases for the rest of our lives. But being born does not exclude growing up and being "born again" does not exclude becoming mature.
Luke 8:12-14
13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
(from New International Version)
Eph 4:11-13
pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
(from New International Version)
The best that a Christian can say is: "I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm further along than I was".

My experience with some of my Christian friends have been the same. I guess they have been misguided by their church that as long as they believe in Christ (go to the church) no matter what they do in their daily life will be forgiven.
There seems to be a great misunderstanding in christian minds that each of us is responsible of our doings and no one- not even god can save us from the consequences. What other religions call the theory of karma is completely ignored by this religion.

Christians are not perfect- however if we claim to be a Christ follower then we need to desire to live like Christ. When Christ died for us, He died to forgive us of our sin, and give us new life. The reason God gives us years on earth as Christians, instead of taking us to heaven immediately is to learn to be MORE like Jesus. The Bible says we are "being made perfect". Forgive us when we do not act like our Lord and Savior. Maybe if we choose to do this more often, more people would want to know the Jesus we profess. To the person who said in his/her response- Jesus is dead. NO He isnt. If you continue to read in the Bible He rose from the dead, to live within us, to show us how to live.

To be like Jesus Christ is what makes a man a Christian. to prove it, remember: If you can see yourself as Jesus Christ, having died on the cross, delievering messages and performing many miracles, then you are a true follower of Christ. I am a follower of Ariel Merlin, since I can see myself ravaging through the fires of Mt.Doom with only my knapsack, Book of Secrets and Sauron ring replica. Now I acknowledge that the Crucifixion was nothing compared to the Journey, but that is not the point. If you can see yourself as Mohammad, then you are a Muslim. If you see yourself as the Buddha, then you are a Buddhist. If you are a christian, you see yourself as Jesus Christ.

Christians are not supposed to be like their Christ. Christ himself even says this and even God. Christians are supposed to live according to the bible (not literally) Jesus was the only perfect being and no one will ever be like that.

True Christians accept that they are not perfect. Christ is always there to guide them. At least, they have the moral standards which were taught by Christ that can bring peace back to this world!

That bothers me..... Some Christians are immature in their faith and are still growing in the knowledge God.
If you are interested in a reading about a very Christlike Christian,
check out a book written by the late Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who authored the book "Tortured for Christ"-he was a friend of mine that endured 14 years of horrible tortures under both nazi and communists rule of Romania. and never denied Jesus to obtain his immediate freedom.
ps He was a messianic Jew.(Christ believing Jew)

Well, look at it this way. It is not really surprising. In the Christian religion, Christ is supposed to be perfect. Humans are imperfect. So how can any human, Christian or not be Christlike?

Everyone is a sinner and each day is a new day to do the best we can for Christ. We should not put our faith in man but in the Father. Everyone else will let us down but He will stick closer than a brother.

Ghandi replied, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."
That's not surprising though - they're all humans, all of whom are no better than us godless heathens.
