as a christian, I will not support stem cell research until I, or one of my family, needs to benefit from it. Then, I will be a big supporter.
Amen.

God created the doctors who He gave wisdom to the people that did the research so there can be transplants today. The ones that donate their heart, have had life, and they decided prior to death to be a donor. Stem cell research does not give the choice to the fetus that is used for medical research. What if that person who did the research on heart so someone needing one could live, was not given the chance to live, due to abortion or being used in stem cell? Heart transplants would not be being done.

Your science is a bit flawed. If you understood it well enough you could see why some could oppose it. The only stem cells that have helped patients so far are adult stem cells and many. Embryonic stem cell research has not helped a single patient." "It has a zero success rate.-0-Nada-None"" (and that is what we are paying for research now--the success rate of the other is grossly under given money for research--Japan is doing better here with a higher success rate. How do we get stem cells from embryos? They come from the "destruction" of"surplus" IVF embryos or by creating (i.e. cloning) embryos The stem cell research that has worked successfully is adult stem cell therapy. We have known about adult stem cells for about 30 years. We can access adult stem cells in many parts of our own body; the brain, bone marrow, skin, fat and many other locations. (We don't need the embryo as someone already stated) Australian researchers in Melbourne have found a technique which help in getting adult stem cells from the human brain. This could mean a cure for people suffering from Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions that you mentioned. (Australia seems really coming to the top of board lately in research-we need to too) The success of using these cells to treat patients has been impressive. This research does not destroy embryos and does not need cloning. And, what is more, it has been very successful. A recent article in the magazine New Scientist described one type of adult stem cell as "the ultimate stem cell". The media (government) gives the impression that there is no alternative to embryonic stem cell research. That is not true. This is a deception propagated by those with a personal interest in destructive embryonic stem cell research. No one has a right to destroy embryos to do this research. We should push ahead with successful and ethical adult stem cell research which involves no destruction of embryos. Even better, it works What about those warnings. Well they are elaborated." Embronic stem cells have the problem of tissue rejection" The truth of that-Both MAY have a problem with tissue rejection (Neurology today) All surgery which involves using another part (blood transfusions too) that isn't yours May have a problem. This is not funding I support as it is geared to the wrong one. And few know enough. They just accept. "An "older" stem cell can only differentiate into certain types. For instance, bone marrow stem cells can differentiate into white blood cells, red blood cells, and megakaryocytes (cells that become platelets). "Wrong again studies show this. Japan came on strong to show this happens only in FEW cases and the same happened with Embronic stem cells. Our bodies can often reject anything new (as in blood) Those warnings apply to all. Not just one I think the greater part of our money should go to with what works not with the other where NOT ONE case has been successful. With a small amount going to new research Now On Vitro Fertilization--they" Don't" Destroy or Harm the embryos they transfer them to a new environment giving it the conditions it needs to conceive that might be in one's womb. And it works. So your science reasoning on that is flawed. Which is why little objection to it. Science--Life begins at conception

I am not sure what you are asking here, but I will tell you what I think. I believe yes God did give us the wisdom to use science and technology to do good things like organ transplants; however, when a person donates an organ to another person that is a choice that they make willingly (i.e. free will which God also gave us to choose to do right or wrong), but embryonic stem cell research uses embryos that did not willingly (i.e. lack of free will) choose to end their existence. If God was kind enough to give us all free will who are we to take it away just because society says that embryo isn't alive and has no rights.

Yes, as long as we don't have to kill to get the benefits.
On last night's news I heard about new revolutionary procedures being developed in Canada where treatment of disease being done through the cells taken form the patient himself. This might make the whole stem-cell issue go away, I don't know.

There is no God or Pink Monkey that gave us any scientific or medical knowledge! Remember the bible God called Knowledge forbidden! The last thing this God would ever do is provide us with more knowledge!

The advances in science have come at the high objections of RELIGION! Religion has opposed scientific advancement! Do not try and say now that science has passed religion in believability that now religion likes science!
Crap religion only likes what will help them control the idiots a bit longer!

THERE IS NO GOD!

IF THERE IS A GOD THEN THAT GOD IS US!
Well not all of us. The religious sheep can't be Gods since they do not think for themself and a God must definately think for itself!
THE PINK MONKEY DOES!

I don't believe that god gave us heart transplants. I believe that it is man's natural ability to explore and learn that has caused these things to come about. Stem cell research is just one of the wonderful discoveries to help heal the horrible diseases of this world. I think it should be implemented when necessary to prevent pain and suffering in the undeserving, especially children.

God has given us such great freedoms... we are meant to respect those freedoms, and not to abuse them.
If we can accomplish the greatly positive effect of saving a human life *with** stem cell research (as long as it does not include taking another human beings life) and we acknowledge that the only reason we are capable of doing so is by the glory of God, we will be honoring He who is the Creator whose creation we have used for great good.

Heart transplants come from people that had a chance in life, but their time was up. That was a decision they made to be a donor. Embryonic research makes babies for the sole purpose to destroy them...They will never have a chance, they have no choice.

True. But maybe god should've just not given us disease in the first place?

Oh wait. That's right - there's no such thing as god.
