If you go lighter, it won't be temporary...
Lightening your hair takes color away and unfortunately it won't magically reappear after 28 washes.

You say you are a honeyblonde, but is that what you are naturally OR is that also a processed color?

If you already have chemicals in your hair from a previous color (they stay there until they grow out) or even a product like Sun-In (which is just solid peroxide and ruins your hair) then definately have this professionally done.

I would say your best bet would be to add light blonde highlights to your honeyblonde hair to break up the color some and keep you from washing out your skin. Plus seeing as how it is winter, going lighter isn't the seasonal choice, but by adding highlights the darker-honey blonde would stand out more and look like low lights. You may even want to have low lights added to your highlights if you have it professionally done.
Lowlight/highlight combos look excellent!!

If you do choose to do it yourself, I would only do it if your hair has no other color on it, and maybe expirement with a few brush in highlights first to make sure you like the way it looks on you.

Goodluck!!!

Honestly, if you're already blonde, and you don't want it to look super artificial, you're going to want to go with natural dyes.

Maybe a henna based dye, but that might darken your hair. Consider finding a sun lamp and soaking your hair in lemon juice. Just sit under the sun lamp for a while, it'll lighten it up. It'll be really subtle, but it will be lighter.

I'd suggest going professional if that's not dramatic enough for you. Maybe just once or twice until you get the hang of it. Talk to your stylist about doing it at home, get reccomendations on colors and brands to use, so you don't get something that will take you too extreme or not extreme enough. I'd get advice from someone who knows your hair well, and who knows what they're doing. A stylist whose work you've liked in the past.

And, as a natural exceedingly pale blond, I'd like to welcome you to the club. Blondes rule.

The washout will not work unfortunately. It may, but not to the extent that you want. I would try for highlights. Herbal essences does the ones with the combs in.

However, on personal experience, I suggest that lightening for the first time, you go to a professional. Then, ask them what brand and color they used on you and you can later try to touch up roots yourself.

You can go lighter in a bottle but it kills your hair expecially if your bleaching it. It's more expensive to go to a professional but it better for your hair expecially if your planning on keeping it and redoing your roots every few months.

stay away from nice and easy hair colours. i tryed lighting mine and it went a really dirty blonde. i say keep your hair the colour it is because the lighter you colour your hair the more darker your roots will look and your have to keep colouring it and messing it up

well it would be cheaper if you do it from a bottle, so if you want cheap then try the bottle, remember its just hair.. if it doesnt look so good then you can always go get it fixed proffesionaly.

i would try to die it yourself.. but you might have to bleach it first to get it lighter. hope it goes good.

Please don't try highlighting at home. If money is your issue, then maybe go to a Beauty College in your area. WIth your coloring I'd go with highlights in the "cool" color palette. I'd weave heavily with tiny sections. I think it would look great.

any color you get will only lighter your hair a shade or maynot quite a shade,,,,If you want togo really blonde you will have to Bleach it and then deposit the color in it this is called double process....If you want to just do something natural and it would be to RINSE with lemon juice ....
