What is the contagious period for the common cold? Is it the first few days that symptoms emerge or before symptoms even appear?

The first three days after being infected. you may or may not show symptoms at this time. a simple cough or sneeze helps spread the virus which may then live for hours on a surface, and when touched by another person who then rubs their eyes or nose has in fact just infected themselves.

The first few days, when there is a runny nose. Contact with the secretions spreads infection.
