Are you open-minded well versed Children of God? Or are you narrow minded verse -by-sect followers?

I would like to think I'm an "open-minded well versed Child of God." It's up to Him to make that decision!

I do not believe what's preached, written or told to me unless I've researched the matter and found that I agree. I have (lovingly, of course) corrected my pastor when I heard him say something that I knew wasn't correct. He was open-minded enough to listen and tell me I was right; praise God, he's humble. There are some pastors who think their title means they're also infallible.

Peace.

Hebrews 4:12, 13
For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart. 13 And there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting.

So, Jehovah witnesses care to read the bible (any bible version does the job), to be sure like this:

Acts 17:11
11 Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni´ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so.

Everyone in my organization of over 6 million baptized Witnesses reads the Bible together as a congregation every two years. We also meet for 5 meetings a week to learn, sometimes in small groups, sometimes in large congregations. We have assemblies of a few thousand people, and conventions of thousands and thousands. We even have International Conventions. I also have a personal schedule, reading the Bible by divisions such as the Law, or the Songs, and I finish the Bible alone in one year. I use study aids, the internet at times, my dictionary, and even magazine articles to come to a deeper understanding of Jehovah God, His Son Jesus Christ, and Jehovah's plan for mankind in general and me in particular. I speak with folks from all over, about their own religions, about MY religion and about the world at large. So, yes, I do consider myself a reasonably well-versed servant of God! :) I hope I always have the heart to listen and share. Such is the cornerstone of society!

I read my bible. Not as much as I should, but I do read it. And if I ever felt my pastor was not speaking Truth, I would be the first to call him on it. I do believe that the only Truth comes from the Word of God, so that is the ONLY thing I use when defending my faith...which unfortunately is a lot!

I read my bible and also I am given dogma by other christians in a teaching position. Everything that I am taught conforms with the bible. If it does not I pay no attention to it.

I'm well versed, but haven't you heard someone say that each time they read the bible they learned something new? Doesn't that mean their previous knowledge has now expanded or morphed into something else?.

I read my bible daily, and have actually read it all the way through 3 times. I also go to a bible study weekly. Our pastor encourages us not to just take his word for everything, but to investigate and read for ourselves.

Bible is for the seekers of wisdom! If you cannot comprehend it, I don't blame you. When you are ready, you'll find the truth and the truth will set you free!
