Or do you make fun of them and expect them to believe the same as you? If so, why? Do you not expect that same respect for your beliefs from others?

There is a difference between being able to discuss or even debate your beliefs. What I am talking about is more of a actual "demeaning" of them. Everything in the world is up for discussion.

And don't forget, YOUR interpretation of the "truth" may be different from another's.

I cannot answer for all Christians but I have respect for other people's beliefs. I may not agree with them but that does not mean I disrespect them. I do beleive that there is absolute truth and that the opposite of that is false. It may seem that Christians are narrow-minded or exclusive but truth by nature is narrow and exclusive. This does not mean I am supposed to mock people or expect everyone to see it the way I do.
It just takes common sense to realize that disagreeing is not the same thing as disrespect. Husbands and wives, family members, and even friends don't agree 100% of the time but that doesn't mean they don't respect each others views.
Do everything in love.

Of course I respect others. How would they want to become my religion if all I did was ridicule them? Making fun of somebody is not a way to make them want to be like you. It does the opposite, actually, because it makes them want to be most unlike you. I am a muslim woman. My mother is a catholic. Most of my family is catholic, actually. There never has been an issue with it. My mother takes the children on weekends very often and they even go to church with her, but they do so for education and not worship purposes. If one is to know why they believe something, they need to know information about why they don't believe in another. We also celebrate the christian holidays with my family and they celebrate the islamic ones with us. Speaking of which, my mom called me into her room while at her house and I accidentally saw the presents. i asked her what they were and she said "OOpps, I forgot you weren't supposed to see those". LMAO.

I do have respect for others beliefs. BUT. I do not agree. There is a difference. I feel that for most of the people I have come in contact that do not have the same faith as I do, it is hard to be friends. Because we live our lives so differently. It isn't a bad thing, it's just, we don't really mesh. But I never make fun, or dis them. That is what they believe, and so be it.
As a christian, I am bashed all of the time for my beliefs. But it just makes me stronger.

Hahaha, all of the religious bible-thumpers are online today! This is awesome! Nobody who is part of one religion respects another's religion. Don't believe me? What about Jesus, the Inquisition, the Dark Ages, the Holocaust, and, of course, the War on Terrorism? Every holy book tells you to respect other religions, but nobody does... Sad, sad world.

I am not perfect but I try to show respect for all people and treat them with dignity regardless of how they treat me or talk about my religion. We were all created with free will and intelligence and have the right to worship and believe the way we want to.

it's a basic curtersy, that we have to respect other's beliefs, opinion, race, religion, etc, we can discuss or debate about it, but always remember not to get carried away that you start to critise because they do not agree or see eye to eye with you, we tend to think that we are always right, & other ppl are stupid if they do not agree with us

I have respect for the person. However, I reserve the right to counter, by any legitimate means at my disposal, any idea I think runs counter to the interests of human progress and justice.
For example, I will do battle against the ideas that bolster theocracy. My tactics against that evil trend can include polemics, and even ridicule. My right to express my opinion on such matters trumps anyone's thin skin.
