How do i define the "division" function on excel?
ex. 8.3/number in column D. It keeps giving me an error.

Example for referencing cell D3:

= 8.3/D3

Just remember that cell D3 cannot equal 0 or be blank. A number cannot be divided by 0. And since a number can't be divided by 0, Excel will give you an error message for the answer with that formula.

To account for that you could set the formula up like this:

= IF(D3 <> 0, 8.3/D3, "")

That formula will make your cell blank if D3 equals 0.

=8.3/D(number of line) e.g. =8.3/D1
You do need to specify the row number of the cell or you will get an error

=8.3/[cell you are dividing by]

If the cell is empty or the value in the cell is zero, it will give you an error message.

well, dont forget the = sign.. it should be =8.3/D4 ..where D4 is the number on column D..
