Above all he has to know that you exist, guys have tunnel vision they only see what is in front of them. Women because of our role in life see things all around being they are the natural care takers. Men being the hunters and gathers don't.

First thing, would be to talk to him make sure he knows that you exist. Second thing to do once you have established that he notices you is flirt and show interest and then you need to ask him out.
