I purchased what I thought was a 3 pound at most, stud quality male. From WWW.YORKIEBABIEDOLLS.COM from Don Montgomery.
What I received at the air port was a 3 pound starved pup, ridden with coccidia, a second row of teeth, and definitely not of breeding quality. He is now a 6 pounder with a terrible coat and huge ears. But it gets worse, 2 months later he starts limping on his back leg. He was diagnosed with leg-calf Perthes disease and required a $1500 dollar surgery. This disease is inherited from this parents or someone in his parents line, I told Don about this yet he still breeds both the parents EVERY SINGLE HEAT!!! He has way to many females and I know now that he is running a puppymill. Don offers a health guarantee but he does not stand by it at all. I am just devastated that I did not do my research on THE BREEDER before I purchased. Don does all his business through the internet, so please spread the word on his horrible puppymill and hopefully we can put him out of business.
P.S. Fabio had his surgery and is recovering great!
Now Don is trying to call me a liar and say I am the only one to complain about his horrendous breeding practices ( BREEDING A FEMALE EVERY HEAT )
I have medical receipts proving how much the surgery was. But I will now purse a case for the price of the dog and the surgery costs.
I wish I didn’t have to go through this, but I truly know in my heart that he is BAD NEWS.
STAY WAY!!!!!

proper yorkie breeders who are affiliated with the canine council breed scrupulously. Breeders are committed to breeding for the betterment of the breed. I too am a registered yorkshire terrier breeder with the royal nsw canine council (that's new south wales in australia). For future puppy purchases, you should always get a list of breeders from the american canine council. Then you should talk to the breeders, do a premises inspection, see both parents ask about bloodlines and ask to see papers. I don't know about america, but australian canine councils will only accept the registration of one litter per year from the same mother. Any more than this and the quality of the pups goes down, and the health of the mother suffers. I'm shocked to read about so many terrible cases in america. I'm so sorry for you that you have to watch the baby you love so much suffer so greatly. Proper breeders love their animals - most proper breeders will never ever turn a profit from their breeding. They do it out of love. $5000 for a puppy is ridiculous. In australia you can get a puppy for around $700 aussie - and that's a good quality pup from an extremely reputable breeder. Anyone charging that much is charging to make a huge profit. terrible.

I am sorry that Fabio had so many problems, but glad he is now doing well. This is why people should not buy over the internet. You have no way of knowing what you are getting. The internet Breeders want their buyers to be out of state so that it would be almost impossible to file and win a lawsuit against them. With all the vet bills you have had, it would probably be worth it for you to pursue the case in court. At least maybe you could recoup some of your losses. I hope Fabio continues to do well.

Go get em, Jessica.
I looked at the site and was sickened. Their stated goal is to produce adult dogs from 2 1/2 to 6 pounds. An adult at 2.5 pounds! Shameful.
It is amazing no big magazines, newspapers, or tv news shows have done a story on how puppy mill owners are raking in the bucks by breeding sickly ultra-tiny dogs to fuel the latest designer-dog trend.
An under-sized dog for $5,000? And "pedigree available on request" because they don't want to post it on their site? Jessica, how many close relatives are on Fabio's pedigree?
Good luck with your pup.

I don't know if you have considered this, but the TV judges sure do like to pursue those puppy rip off cases. They pay transportation and all expenses, plus $212 for the day you appear in their court. Texas Justice and Judge Judy both are huge on puppy rip-offs..as Judge Judy got ripped off, herself! she is especially tenacious about the subject..You can apply to appear by going to their websites..They require that you have already filed a small claims case in your own county, and then they take it from there..
Anyway, here is a great place to post the ripoff for all the world to see> http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff147532.htm
On the TV judge cases, you can't get the price of the dog back, without returning the dog..but you can recover the difference in price between a breeder quality and a pet quality, and you can recover medical costs..IF all is well documented.

WHY would you buy a stud prospect (or a pet, for that matter) from a byb? It is obvious from their cheesy website they are not serious breeders. None of their dogs are champions, not even their STUD dogs! Do they do any health testing?
I would be careful calling them a puppy mill on a public forum unless you have proof that they keep their dogs in filth and don't take care of them.
You can go to court, but be prepared to give your dog back.
Live and learn, choose differently next time.

Breeders like this make me ill. Better to take the trip to the facility. This guy obviously has something to hide by doing strictly internet sales here. Such a shame for the poor dogs.

I agree with Butterfly. Call the police in his area, there are animal cruelty laws in every state. Some human societies have animal police, but some do not.
