How about a personalized book? Kids really love to hear their own name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles to choose from like Sesame Street, Batman, Spider-Man, Dinosaur Land, Mother Goose, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Three Little Pigs and so many more. They are so cute and very reasonably priced....a unique & educational gift! Check it out and good luck...

When I was a little younger (14 years ago...) I LOVED anything by Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, and Tommy DePoalo (that's not the right spelling, but it's really close!) All of those are rhyming ones, and I still love them all to this day!! :-)

Gerald the Giraffe is EXCELLENT. It rhymes, has a great moral and is very funny. When my son was 4 and 5 (and 6!) I learnt it off by heart he wanted it read so often. Fabulous book - can't remember who it by though, sorry!

of course Dr. Suess, but there are so many. Check out the library. I found that they have a section where they sell their books for like 50 cents to a dollar and the books are in perfect condition.

I love Robert Munsch's books! They are so cute and funny, some of my faves are "More Pies", "Mmmm Cookies", "We Share Everything", and there is another one about a little girl who climbs on everything and decides to climb a huge tree and won't come down, her parents try to get her to come down, but they end up needing to be wrapped in bandaids, really cute but I can't remember the title. Good luck!

Try Shel Silverstein books...they are full of poems that are light and funny and will entertain your child well into their pre-teen years, but many of the poems are good for young children too. I loved them growing up and I love reading them to my son, and showing him the illustrations.
