Dogs can get canine versions colds and a flu also!!..but we can't pass a human cold to dogs, and they can't pass a dog virus to us... in dogs usually manifest as a cough.
They can get upper respiratory infections like kennel cough where you sometimes see a discharge from the nose. Dogs often don't eat if their nose is blocked, because they can't smell the food. Smell is very important to dogs.
Homeopathic remedies that may be useful for common colds are: Allium cepa (onion)... just think of what happens to you when you cut into a juicy onion and those are the symptoms it treats.
Pulsatilla... for shiny pets, who desire fresh air and are worse indoors and have a yellow green discharge
Drosera... this is a good remedy for coughing which is worse as soon as the pet lays down and gets ready for sleep.
Rumex is another goood choice for cough, if Drosera fails.
Spongia is another excellent cough remedy.

Yes they can, always make sure your pet has somewhere dry and warm to sleep and sit even if they are outside.
As the lady said above go take him to a vet.
Make sure you never leave your dog stuck out in the rain or snow they can get ill and die.

Most pets are susceptible to upper respiratory infections, your vet can prescribe anti-biotics for this and you will see a marked improvement in a few days...be sure to follow the prescription and give your dog all the medication that's been prescribed.

absolutely they can! A couple of years ago, mine had a virus and had fever and the chills. I've never seen a dog have chills, but she did! Definitely get it checked out.
