you are absolutly correct. its sad to hear these people make fun of "allah(god)". i dont think they realize that it means god. everyone worships the same god(allah). allah is not only for muslims, arab christians say allah as well. there is none worthy of worship except allah(swt). he is the creator not created. he has the power and knowledge of everything. if it wasnt for him we wouldnt be in this world(esspecially sitting on computer post questions and answering). we will all return to him. may he guide us all to the right path and bless us all with jannah(paradise). take care sis and good info u got their. ;)

According to Wikipedia, "Allah is the Arabic language word referring to "God", "the Lord" and, literally according to the Qur'an, to the "God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" in the Abrahamic religions. It does not mean "a god", but rather "the Only God", the Supreme Creator of the universe, and it is the main term for the deity in Islam. However, "Allah" is not restricted to just Islam, and used by Christians and Jews according to geographic region.
AllÄh is found in the Qur'an and in Arabic translations of both the Tanakh and the Gospels and even in the Indonesian translations of the Bible. Christians believe that AllÄh is ath-Thalouth al-Muqaddas - The Holy Trinity, thus whole AllÄh is consisted from Abu-Father, Bin-Son, and Ruh-Spirit.
Outside the Arabic World, the use of "AllÄh" is generally associated exclusively with Islam, and is used to refer specifically to the Islamic concept of God. It is nearly the same as the Jewish conception of a single God[1][2], but differs from the Trinitarian Christian conception of God. In Islam, the concept of one God is strictly observed."

I mean no disrespect to anyone, but it is true that the term Allah is from the moon god which was worshiped, among other gods, in the polythestic culture of Mohammad. Mohammad, thorugh military conquest, eventually discarded all the other "gods" and declared the moon god to be the Supreme being.

Allah is the name of the Only True God and the Quran tells you 114 times, "In the Name of Allah, most merciful".
Allah does not translate God. God in Arabic is "ilah".

Sorry, but the Old Testament was written in Hebrew, not Arabic.
Yes, Allah is arabic for "god", and the word "god" appears in many books, including the Bible.
So what?

Before being all you said, Allah, stems from the Hebrew root 'El' meaning Divine, 'of God';)...Every name having 'el' or al' at its beginning or end, stems from that very same Hebrew root;)
Examples: Dani-el, Gabri-el, Micha-el, Al-i, Cem-al, etc etc....;)
The plural of 'El' was 'Elhoim';)
In any case, Allah stems from Hebrew and that's why it was there before Islam;)

Allah sounds like a bad word to me.
It isn't English, you see, and in English, it doesn't even sound decent.
