My fiance wears his engagement band on his right hand. He says I have to wear mine on my left but then it looks like I'm married and he isn't. I started to wear mine on my left and he says that's not right. Does anyone know the proper etiquette for this?

A womans engagement ring is worn on the left had ring finger. This shows engagement. The wedding band is added at the wedding on top of the engagement. After the ceremony the ring order is switched to put the band on the inside. The two bands shows marraige. I've never heard of a man wearing an engagement ring. They only get a ring when married and it also goes on the left hand ring finger.

Traditionally, they are both worn on the left ring finger. The female engagement ring is on the left signifying you are going to be married. When you actually get married, the wedding band joins the engagement ring on your left ring finger to signify the marriage. Typically I don't see many men wearing engagement rings, but there are still those out there who do wear it. And the men that I know that have them wear it on their left ring finger to signify that they are engaged or taken. I know guys that wear normal rings on their right ring finger, so an engagement band could be mistaken as just any old ring with no significance.

Well, I thought the woman wore the engagement ring on the left hand. I never knew men wore engagement rings. Oh, well. Learn something every day. : )

In America both wear on the left ring finger.
In other countries it is different.
For example, in Russia both wear on the right. When they divorce, the man doesn't wear anymore but the woman wears on the left.

you both are supposed to wear them on the left. that is how it is traditional done.
