i think the main reason i broke up with my bf is because he is still studying, while i've graduated and having a career. he kept on saying he wanted to ease my burden of having a jobless bf which i totally disagree.how can this be a barrier?

Not all men feel this way, however, in your situation, say things where the other way around, you'd feel, like you're leaning too much on the other person. Which is how he probably feels.

Also, it depends on how he was brought up, that whole perception of a man taking care of the people he cares about. Having you take care of him can be viewed as a bit emasculating.

If you want to get back with him, and you see long term potential with him, then let me know that he'll be off on his career soon enough, then it will be his turn to take care of you ;-).

Historically men were the providers. A lot of men can't deal with being with a more successful women, it makes them feel like less of a man. The good news is that all men aren't liek that. Find a guy that loves and who is enough of a man to deal with earning less than his girlfriend/wife.

I dont think men are intimidated by successful women at all. I think it's successful women that throw it in a man's face and think they are something special. Many very successful women are "too proud" about what they've acomplished. While I think they should be proud, it's good to be modest about it sometimes.

I could see in your situation how your bf would feel like a looser for still being in school. Did you reassure him that you wanted him to get an education and offer to help him study?

it is a man's job to be the bread winner (so they think) and make more money. it intimidates men when a girl has a good career.

Only some men feel that way. Because they feel they need to be better than women; that they need to be on top and look down. The guy you're talking about, however, is obviously immature. =\

usually, cause if you are doin better than him, he takes that as a shot at his manhood because the man is supposed to be the breadwinner, and that is just how guys think.
