i really don't think dating someone your friend/relative has been with is the best idea. me personally would never go there. it puts strain on relationships with the people you care about. it makes things awkward when around other friends that you share and why would you want to be second? i know you can't help who you like but you have to mature and take control of your emotions. my friends and i have rules abut that, no one dates a guy the others may be interested in, have been interested in and never ever an ex. guys come and go but your girls and you should be friends forever. not enough females look out for one another when it comes to men and it's a shame. if you want to keep her as a friend then please leave that guy alone.

All is fair in love and war; but I'd have that conversation with your best friend. That relationship, at this stage, is probably more important.
