Yes. But when lies break down and are uncovered, even if years after the fact, the reaction is usually a devistating one.
So, it isn't suggested...even if all people lie.
It also depends on how big of a lie you are trying to set out. Is it that you flirted with someone or got into their pants? Is it that you don't like their mom or is it that you slept with their mom? See, levels of severity.
I am totally honest with my partners, but then again...ALL people lie. It just depends on how much you are lying and what you are trying to cover up.
Good....
You HATE the way he folds the towels and it drives you MAD. You ignore it because you pick and choose your fights.
Bad....
You HATE the way he talks, smells, thinks, snores, and is in bed. So, you have an affair and now find the guy more tolerable because you are detached. You end the affair because you magically realize this was a bad idea and you keep it all a secret because you don't want to hurt the guy...this is BAD and will cause EXPLOSIVE ANGER. Bad idea.
See the difference?

I think this is a terrible saying for relationships. Some things are better left unsaid but not when it comes to a trusting relationship...

Obviously, this is something that will hurt you or it would not be kept from you in the first place.
