I had my toy poodle neuterd in 2/2006 at 6 mos of age. He has never humped me or any other person or dog. He is partial to stuffed pigs and bears and he has been humping alot this past two weeks. THis is my first dog so I over react alot but last night he had something red with a blub looking thing at the end and it was protruding from his penis. It was dragging on the floor and it scared my dog and freaked me out. It went back in within 10 min or so however he was very frightened for quite a while. Excuse my ignorance if this is normal. I need to know what it was.

looks like your toy poodle had himself an erection. the bulb-like thing on the base is the dog's knot. this swells during copulation and ties the two dogs together until it shrinks down again. the function of this is to trap the males semen within the female dog and increases the chance of said female carrying said male's offspring. this is normal.

Don't worry about the red penis, is she in heat? It takes a little more than humping to get a female dog pregnant. The permanent erection is nothing to be concerned about but the Viagra comment was too damned funny!!

it's just the business bit of his penis. the bit you can usually see is just a sheath to protect the inside which you have seen. It appears if a dog is aroused and the disappears again when he calms down. lol

YEAH THAT WAS HIS PENIS. IT WAS THE WEIRDEST, GROSSES THING I HAD EVER SAW. I WAS FREAKED OUT AT FIRST TOO. I THOUGHT SOMETHIN WAS WRONG WITH MY DOG.
