I cant talk and it hurts really bad when i swallow. I took some medicine but when i woke up this morning it really hurt. Could i have strep throat, or layringitis. I would go to the doctor but he doesnt know anything. All he does is check me and send me out. Can i get some help from somebody in the medical field? Please

Don't gargle the salt water! It's a wives-tale remedy. Just go to the store and buy the liquid Tylenol throat. It is blue. It will help a LOT and you will be better in no time! Although, I still suggest you go to the doctor.

I just took my son in for fever and severe sore throat. The nurse put him on antibiotics, said he probably had strep w/o even doing a culture. I've been giving him ibuprofen for the pain. It normally lasts a couple of weeks and will run it's course without the help of antibiotics, but it is painful and very hard to suffer through. Sounds like you should just call your dr.'s office and say, I think I have strep throat, describe symptoms, could you please call me in a prescription. They should do it for you,if not, find another doctor.

Your doctor should do a strep test. If your throat has white spots and/or yoru glands are swollen, you may have strep. Sinus drainage can also cause a sore throat. In the meantime, try gargling warm salt walter (not hot). It tastes gross, but it does seem to help.
Good luck

Aspirin works on sore throats just like it works on pain anywhere else in the body.
Ludens Cough Drops work really well, but you probably also need Contact tablets or something else like that.
You can gargle with salt water. Don't make it too salty though.
Strep throat is serious and needs antibiotics because it doesn't respond to other cold medicines.

I'm not in the medical field, but I have suffered a life-time full of strep throat. You need antibiotics--if you don't get them or if you get them and don't take the full round you can contract rheumatic fever--bad!!!

Gargle with warm water with salt. Or, as my yoga teacher taught me----blenderize a thumb-sized ginger, and a six-inch long raddish. If you can't stand its taste, put a little honey. These are very good remedies. Get well soon.

I really suggest you find another doctor, if that is is all he did. I just got over being sick with my throat hurting and they prescribed me amoxicillin and it worked, so you probably need prescribed meds.

try to go to the nearest emergency room, in there the dr. might give you antibiotics and do a culture of your throat.
