The world see the word RELIGION as an institutionalized belief.
I am a Christian Christian means Christ in us.
Christianity means a religion based on the life, teachings, and example of Jesus Christ.
I agree with you,, ponder this for a minute if you will........
People are always asking are you Catholic or Protestant?
I always answer Neither I am a Christian!
What are your thoughts on this?
How about Are you Christian, Catholic or Protestant?
Ephesians 4:4,5,6 ONE LORD ONE FAITH ONE BAPTISM
Peace and Love to you too.
Christian in Pa.

Because people are attacking thier religion and they want to believe they are above attacks, and by claiming its not a religion its a relationship they feel it makes them immune to the cut downs and the bashing of christianity. Many people are deconverting and the christians are trying new tactics to get converts or get old ex christians back in the game.

Interesting question...and from my perspective, the answer is that "religion" is not where it's at for some Christians. It is beyond that. It doesn't mean belonging to a specific church! Or to a churches beliefs. To some, like myself, organized religion doesn't mean much, but true "spirituality" , believing in the word of God, the Bible, without interpretation from a church, is the actual Christianity...and means following Christ.

Christianity:
If we are to follow the religion known as “Christianity” than this religion is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. Nor did Jesus (pbuh) told his followers that your religion is known as “Christianity”. There are 73 books in the Catholic Bible and 66 Books in the Protestant Bible, But no word such as Christianity is found in them. The word “Christianity” is actually a derivation of people who after the ascension of Jesus (pbuh), accepted him as their Messiah. It was first used in Antioch.
Acts 11: 25-26 “Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
If Christians believe that Jesus (pbuh) was their Messiah and the Bible is the word of God, than they must realize that no where does God says in the Bible to be Christians or no where does Jesus say in the Bible to be Christians.

Did Jesus or his Apostles follow a religion called Christianity? Who were the first 'Christians' ? Who founded Christianity and do the teachings of Christianity conform to the teachings of Jesus?
The teachings of Paul, the true founder of Christianity, cannot be found anywhere in the teachings of Jesus or in those of prophets before him.

Christianity is looked upon as a religion by the world. That's true enough.
But many Christians see their faith with much deeper meaning, that it is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The end result is that they will tell you that true Christianity isn't a religion, it is a relationship.

What?, maybe you are referring to what one indivivual said. I'm as left as you can get without falling off the map and have family who are far far right fundamentaist christians. One side teaches "fear",and "it's our way or Hell". The other accepts other religions as glorifying God , if they worship Jesus or not. Huge, huge ,differences.

Real Christianity is a RELATIONSHIP between God and man.Religion is man's attempt through rituals to gain God's notice and favor.
Jesus said "No one comes to the Father unless the Spirit(Holy) draws him"
God reaches down to touch us.Religion is man's vain attempt to reach up blindly to God.
"Look at me God! I'm swinging incense,I'm eating a cracker, look, look,I dropped and extra dollar in the plate!I'm so great!"
"Depart from me"Jesus says"I never knew you".

True Christiannity is NOT a Relgion, It is a experiance with God. Relgion can be anything, but salvation has only ONE DOOR TO GET INTO, All that is left out of that door, is a lost sinner, & I don't care how many religionous they look, Religion can kill a person & religion is cruel , But Salvation won't kill & it is eternal life.

It's a them/us kind of arrogance that they assume to differentiate the "truth" they believe from all the other "truths" . By lumping all of them under the mantle of religion, they somehow feel their delusional perceptions are somehow superior to all the other delusional beliefs.
