If you clip the nails the cat will be just fine, clip the nails every week or every two weeks. The cutters are easy to find at Wal-Mart or a pet store, most come w/ instructions. I recommend Bamboo Care brand, it came w/ a styptic to stop bleeding in case the nail bleeds. Don't use human nail cutters since they can fray the nails and cause problems. The quick is the pink area inside the nail, DO NOT cut that, cut the nail just a little at a time. If you want to avoid declawing it you can buy a product called soft claws or soft paws, found at almost any pet store. They are soft rubbery tips that are placed over the nails and last for quite a while. Good luck, your cat will be fine.

there are lots of easy to use claw nippers available at pet stores, and most major stores (walmart, etc). You just need to be careful not to get too close to the "quick", where the nail will bleed if you cut it.
I also found this for you online:
Generally speaking, your cats front claws will need clipping every 10 - 14 days, depending on how much of the tip you remove each time. The back claws do not need to be done as often, usually every few months will suffice. If you have trouble getting your kitty to cooperate, seek help from your vet or a professional groomer.

No, it will not effect them.
Depends how fast they grow, but I would suggest taking your kitten to the vet and have them show you how to clip the nails. Then, you can purchase cat clippers at pet stores, department stores or some veternarians offices and do it yourself. If you can have someone hold the kitten it really helps.
The front paws need clipping more often and how you can tell is if their claws get caught on things around your house, or yourself. You will know when they start to curl a bit.

Clipping will make the nails less blunt, but she'll still be able to scratch. You can get her a soft paws treatment. They put these little pads on their claws. It's a lot more humane than declawing, but it does end up costing more because it needs to be done about every 2 months or so.

I trim my cats nails every 2 weeks or so. My cats are always happier afterward, since when they get too long, they gets stuck on things. You have to get a special clipper for cats, its cheap. And make sure you only trim them below the little white mark inside the nails, its easy to see. If you dont, you could hit it and make them bleed. It hurts them.

I would have her declawed and, would worry about cat fever that can be very debilitating to humans and, in fact, can involve amputation.
