It is to perpetuate and advance the belief.

I do not teach my kids that freedom is a value to validate myself, but to advance the belief in freedom.

If no one teaches that belief, how does it continue?

No. The Scripture says, "Go ye out into the highways and the hedges and compel them to come in". We're not to beat them over the hea with it, but we're to do our duty in witness to perform the work of the Lord as He commands.
