My opinion
Basically they are showing you things you don´t want to see or things you can´t see which are from your unconscious.
Eg. if you dream that you are in Cairo. You might want to go there.
If you dream about abstract things or weird dreams then those are difficult to know what they mean, but a psychologist can help you to find it out.
If you see to many movies your dreams are going to be related to these movies.
Eg. you watch a terror movie, you dream about that and you might have nightmares
It means different thing for different people, and it means different things for different times of your life. It is related to things that happened to you.
There are dreams that are easy to undesrtand and others that are more difficult.
A psychologist can help you to interpret your dreams.
and this is from wikipedia
A dream is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. The events of dreams are often impossible or unlikely to occur in physical reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer. The exception is lucid dreaming, in which a dreamer realises that he or she is dreaming—being sometimes even capable of changing the oneiric reality around him or her and controlling various aspects of the dream, in which the suspension of disbelief is broken.[citation needed] Dreamers may experience strong emotions while dreaming. Frightening or upsetting dreams are referred to as nightmares. The scientific discipline of dream research is oneirology.

Dreams are your sub-counsious runing free to express what is going on in your life be it good, bad or in between. Differnt dreams represent differnt meanings. I believe that a dream is an expression of a want, warning of a future event or a chace to chage the past. Keep a dream jouranl and write down your dreams right after you wake. See if their isa pattern If so it could lead you to what you are looking for. A dreamis a great way to release tension and pent up emotions too.

Dreams are usually what you feel in your subconscience, heart, intuition. Since you cant really see whats in your subconscience while awake they play out in the form of dreams. For example, if you have a boyfriend and in a dream you dream of him breaking up, talking bad, cheating on you.. some could interpret that as there is something wrong with the relationship, something he is possibly hiding. They are usually quite acurrate, believe it or not. They arent going to be literal like if you explode in your dream you are going to explode when you wake up. But dreams DO have meanings behind them.

some can, but mostly its just our subconscious working through things that have happend or are on our mind while we are sleeping. Dreams are where a lot of our fears and hopes for the future are revealed, so it doesnt neccessarilly mean that it will happen, just that youre worried/hoping it will.

it happens to me sometimes that i feel like i have seen a frame of present in the past. like say.. im in a class room and just for a second i feel like ive seen a moment EXaCtly like this before in my dreams.. i heard some people can tell the future like that...
what do they mean?
i think when your sleep or unconcious your mind flies around freely so the things you see in your dream tells you how you really feel inside when there is no connection between you, time, space, or other people.

Dreams come from the unconscious thoughts in your head. They are things you want or thrive for but unfortunatly not reality. I picked up a dream dictionary and its kinda cool! There are symbols in your dreams which have meanings to them...but i have also had dreams that seem completely de javu :)

yow sassy this situation would need ananswer from someone who has a great knowelege about psycology, because dreams usually things that you would like and would not like to happen or even situations that you have experienced but you try to for get them but usually when you think that you forget something or put something in the past it is usually stored in a part of your brain called the subconscience.

i believe that some dreams do mean something, but you can never tell which one does. i heard that if you have a dream before 5:30 am, than there is a chance that it's true, but if it is after 5:30am, than it probably is false.

Its your subconscious trying to process your experiences Of the day, what you anticipate and expect. So in some way, it does give you insight into the future, as you probably anticipate the event in some way.
