Rumors can ruin your reputation as well as your friendships. Sometimes there is no use trying to prove they're not true, because the people spreading them will not listen. There are some rumors that are impossible to ignore. When that happens to me, I always try to talk to the other victim of the rumor, so that he will know I had nothing to do with it.

Yeah they can I know this cause it happened to me first hand.People who spread rumours are shallow, evil people and deserve to be humiliated in front of everybody so they can know how it feels to be laughed at.And honestly once a rumour starts there is no getting rid of it,it just gets worse if you try(its like throwing oil on a fire)

of course rumors can hurt people..rumors are nothing more than hateful, unfounded gossip ..the best thing to do about it is to not respond to it at all and not sink to the same level. keep your head held high and try to let it not bother you. your real friends will know the truth and love you anyway, who cares about the rest of them if that's the type of people they are

The worst that can happn due to rumours is that they can provoke the victim into chronic depression n subsequently, suicide....so yes, they can harm.........n the shittiest part that there's no real way of killing hot gossip...so just let it die down
