Does anyone know how to help me get my husband (married 15 years) out of jail? I.N.S. picked him up a month ago.He is a good man never commited a crime in his life and has supported me our daughter and my 4 children from a previous marriage. We have a lawyer and she stopped his deportation but he still sits in jail waiting a court date..While we at home our losing everything. He was approved for an I 130 but we never got notice to go to court and so that lead for the deportation in 1995 we didnt find out till 2003 that there was an order for deportation( We got another lawyer) and I dont think she is moving our case very fast at all..I would like to have him home with us ..we did all the proper things that we had to do...the case has a motion to reopen and he is eligible for 245i relief under the LIFE (Legal Immagration and Family Equity Act) of 2001 Does anyone know what that means??(My 1st husband for 5 years(white American)( ,abused me )..My husband now is a wonderful man to me

I dont understand how ppl can be so cold hearted and rude! WTF! hes a person too...and when your in process of getting deported they take you to the jail he is not a criminal, you cant judge this man from that c'mon ppl be more realistic...I am sorry to hear youn are going thru this my mom went thru the same thing and its a very hard process we lost alot but in the end it was worth it,I just think so much has change since 9/11 and it sux we are all paying for some stupidity! But I would get another lawyer definetly and QUICK!! If she was a good lawyer she would of been able to get him out til his court date IT IS POSSIBLE.....So I wish you the best of luck just stay strong....

Sorry for your situation. I would definately call your congressman. Maybe consider some organizations that help in the community. People that say "he should have filed the paperwork in the first place" have no concept of the red tape and incompetence that exists in INS. The laws change frequantly. The forms are endless. The people are rude.
Based on the circumstances, maybe you can sponsor him?
Good luck.

He had to have done something wrong to be sittingin jail without bond, is he a flight risk?. Maybe there is something in his past you are not aware of, and if he does happen to get deported, get ready to either live with him in Mexico, or live here without him, your choice. Something in your last sentence caught my attention, "My husband "now", is a wonderful man to me. Was there a time he was not wonderful to you, or just recently since he has been in jail.??? Either way, Good Luck for ther sake of the children and only them.

He should of completed the proper paper work first, and this have never happened. The same thing happened to my sister and her husband, and he has been deported for 3 years now, and her bank account is wiped out in attorney fees. everything changed after 9/11.

Sounds to me like this good man that never committed a crime in his life is a criminal....just like an illegal to think breaking the law in America is not a crime. Here's to a successful deportation...

I am sorry you are in a bad situation. If I were you, I would call your Congressman or one of your Senators. Ask for the caseworker who deals with immigration issues. They will be able to help you make sense of the situation, and there is no cost for their services. Good luck!

I am glad he is in jail and wish that you were there with him, his lawyer needs to be disbarred and deported along with you and your family, all the best of bad luck to you!
