I personally think that even when you use a heat-protecting serum or creme, regular use of heat and blow dryers will eventually do their damage anyway. Try using a deep conditioning/ reconstructing treatment on a regular basis (in addition to the heat-protecter) to get the sheen back in your hair and make it look healthier.

Blow drying hair is not a bad thing, but ensure u do it the right way...heres how you go about it...
How To How To Blow-Dry Your Hair
Every good style starts with a good blow-dry and it is possible to do it at home, if you follow each of the steps that I have listed. Remember that blow-drying takes practice, so be patient and soon your efforts will look professional.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes approximately
Here's How:
1. Apply your favorite straightening balm if hair has unwanted curl or wave.
2. Gently detangle hair, create part and allow to 90% air dry.
3. Horizontally section hair leaving a section free.
4. Pull up remainder of hair and pin in place with sectioning clips on top of head.
5. Divide the free hair into 4 manageable sections depending on thickness and length.
6. Hold dryer in one hand, brush in the other.
7. Choose one of the 4 sections and move the brush and the blow-dryer vertically, directing airflow down the hair shaft. This will also create shine as you close the cuticle.
8. Continue from section to section of free hair until all the sections are dry and smooth.
9. Remove clips, horizontally section off more hair and allow this new section to fall loose.
10. Re-clip damp hair on top of head continue the drying steps as described above until all of the hair is completely dry.
11. Style with a brush to coax desired movement and then spray to hold.
Tips:
1. It is important that your blow-dryer be light enough to hold easily. Holding your arms over your head can be tiring.
2. Your hairspray should be strong enough to hold your style without leaving your hair crunchy.
What You Need:
* -a blow dryer that offers between 1200 and 1500 watts
* -sectioning clips
* -straightening balm if hair has curl
* -hairspray
* -large round brush

according to me, heat up olive oil as much as you can take the heat and massage it on the scalp really well and also apply on the hair. You could aply this at night (twice a week) and wash it with mild shampoo in the morning. Then towel dry for 20 minutes so you do not need too much heat to dry your hair. You can just blow dry it for one or two minutes and your hair looks great and shiny

Keep using the heat protectant and make sure you keep up on your trims (1/2 in. every 6 wks) and also make sure you are not going over your hair to many times or pausing for to long while ironing.

They actually sell spray that protects your hair from excessive heat. I have the same problem. Nexxus sells a heat protection styling spray.

I use citre shine anti-frizz spray laminator prior to ironing. It eliminates static and protects hair from heat damage--not to mention my hair is super shiny afterwards!

the best option according to me...is..........applying oil to ur hair just one hour b4 washing them..(if u hav time)
doing dis will retain necessary amount of oils in ur hair...saving them frm getting dry and looking lik haystack....
another important thing is to wash them every second day rather than daily....
try it out.....!!

See if you can find a product line called "Smooth and Shine". I have processed hair and I have found that their products work the best for me.
