Probably not. As has been noted, the Middle East doesn't see a lot of snow or ice. In any case, I believe that Lot's wife was not actually converted to a pillar of salt so much as she was coated in a combination of volcanic ash and salt deposits from the ground and thus petrified in the same manner as the inhabitants of Pompeii. This could have been the result of a cataclysmic destruction such as a meteor impact or volcanic eruption.
