My cat, Jabba, is front declawed. When he sits on the couch he takes his back claws and digs them into the couch and you can hear the fabric pop as his nails enter. No matter how much trimming of his nails we did, he would still do it. So we bought him some Soft Claws, they are silicone caps for cat’s nails; it’s a safe alternative to declawing. Well he wears them; however he isn't a fan of them. He has been wearing them for several months now, but lately, within the last month he has been taking off the same two middle toes on his right paw. We can put them on 3 times a day and within an hour of being let go he will have them removed. We have held him down for almost an hour just to let the glue dry, and have even watched him like a hawk, but sure enough within an hour or so they are off again. Those two nails seem slick; could they keep coming off easy because they have nothing to grip too? What if we used a nail file, VERY CAREFULLY, and filled a little of the nail so the glue had something to adhere too? Would that work? Has anyone tried Soft Claws and had this happen? I will take any advice. We seem to go through these things like water, but they are so AMAZING! Really work wonders.

We really love the Soft Claws and don't plan to stop using them, we just need to find a way to keep him from taking those two toes off. He will leave all of the others alone and they will last weeks. But these 2 seem to come off all of the time. He will set still long enough to do it and he doesn't mind it, just doesn't like those two or he knows he can get them off

YES!!! My cat did that too! We actually filed the sides of his nails VERY CAREFUL so the glue could connect w/ a surface that had a little bit more friction to it. Your cat is probably picking so much with his back claws that it eventually loosens it and makes it able to pull off, it's that his nails are slick its just thant his longest nail is probably being retracted against something to help pull it off. The filing did help, but we did it to make the things stick better ergo, thay are harder to pull off.

My cat is front de-clawed too. but he doesn't really go on chairs, he just enjoys eating the x-mas tree.

My cousin used those soft claw things.

a nail file might work, although it might be pretty hard to get your kitty to hold still for that. :D

Try putting a plasit cover on the chair and get your cat a scratching post, that usualle works.

Good luck with kitty!

Happy Holidays!

Yes you can gently ruff the surface of the nail, also try cleaning them well prior to applying them. I have never had a problem getting them to stay on if I clip, clean, and ruff the nail first.

I raced to respond to this submit to inform you the way merciless de-clawing replaced into. fortuitously I analyze those mushy claws. Declawing is like reducing off finger suggestion! somewhat a pal of mine keeps speaking about declawing her cat and it truly is somewhat annoying me. i replaced into questioning the position you will get a number of those mushy claws. i'd somewhat favor to inform her to analyze it out. I somewhat have in no way heard of them and that i imagine they sound miraculous! :)
