I have a hyperactive 6 year old that bores easily. i can finally afford to put her in an activity. From experience, what sports/dance activities have worked best for your little girls?

Allow her the opportunity to choose. Ask her what she would like to do. Just because she is 6 doesn't mean she doesn't know. You might be surprised. You did mention that she didn't know how to skate, why not enter her in some skating lessons? I am not sure hockey would be the best choice for a six year old girl...give her a few more years on that one. Some other ideas that come to mind are Girl Scouts, art class, karate class, or theater. Hope this helps.

I have a hyperactive little girl who just couldn't sit still. She's very smart and fun loving and gets bored easily as well. You're doing right by putting her into activities... the one that worked best for her was Ballet/Tap/Jazz and Martial Arts. One really inexpensive/free thing that she really likes to do is Pilate's/Aerobics. I bought her a DVD and she gets down in the floor and flips and stretches...then jumps up to do the Aerobic exercises....just full of energy. One thing that I LOVE about this is that it WEARS HER OUT!

So, that could be a very inexpensive yet fun option. Get a DVD that has some kind of dance/jazz aerobics where she can kick and spin. Kids love the music, they love to dance, and be free. Even better....every now and then I jump out on the floor and do it with her... "mommy and me" time! She loves it. --Kill two birds with one stone. It's fun, it's healthy, she gets to spend time with you...and she'll drink water if you put it in her own special waterbottle with a sippy straw....girl.... be creative!!!

Hope this helps!

Soccer, swimming, martial arts, basketball, dance lessons, to name a few.
There are so many activites it can be difficult to choose. A very active or hyperactive child does well in a highly structured activity -- one where she does not have to wait her turn to use equipment and one that keeps her moving for about 30-45 minutes. She also needs time for free play to burn off all her energy.

Your local YMCA or recreation center offers memberships and through a family membership you'd have access to several activity options.

Have fun!

I would ask HER what she is interested in. Then she's more likely to follow through and enjoy it.

Just a few possibilities.....
soccer
ballet
tap dance
hip hop dance
gymnastics
self defense classes
swimming (some parks or schools have indoor pools that even offer winter swim lessons)

My stepdaughter bores easily and has alot of energy also. I put her in cheer leading thru the school. It helped alot she is not only able to burn off energy and stay busy but she has made tons of new friends which now allows her to have her girlfriends come over sometimes after school and on weekends and with all that needless to say she doesn't have any time to get bored anymore.

I would have to say gymnastics and dance. How about joining a library group for her age?? Here is an amazing website I know she will love...www.starfall.com. Good luck.
