There is a Brittish Medical Journal article by a burns victim. 2006;332;956-959 BMJ. It's not exactly what you're after, but it does deal with facial disfigurement - but as a result of burns rather than an operation.

Patient’s journey
From burns unit to boardroom
James Partridge

I tried to copy the article into here, but it's 3 pages, so it just comes up as a blank when I post it.

The gist of it is that the author had to relearn all his social skills and had to learn to take the initiative in social situations (introduce himself to people and not wait for people to come up and talk to him), and to get used to people reactions to him, embarrasment, discrimination, apologies etc.

The article is really much better than my summary, the author of the article also wrote a book called "Changing Faces". It may be of use too.

You could also try:

Changing Faces (www.changingfaces.org.uk) —A national UK based charity that supports and represents people who have disfigurements of the face or body from any cause. It can supply a list of groups and organisations that provide support, information,
and advice about specific conditions.

The Centre for Appearance Research (http://science. uwe.ac.uk/car) —Based at the University of the West of England in Bristol, it conducts research into psychosocial, educational, and cultural aspects of appearance and disfigurement

Dining with a Difference (www.diningwithadifference.com) —Aims to help directors and senior managers of major public companies to develop clearer and more realistic views of people with disabilities or disfigurement

Employers’ Forum on Disability (www.employers-forum.co.uk) —A major employers’ organisation that aims to make it easier for employers to recruit and retain disabled employees

Yeah, beneficial attempt. shop it for somebody who believes you. it would look judging out of your questions you have an obsession with facial disfigurement - incredibly unhappy. perhaps an afternoon in a ward of folk who've bee disfigured for existence might close you up.
