I really struggle with the answer to this. A better question is, is America the police force for the world? In WW II, it took a personal attack on our own soil to get us involved in the war. Prior to that, we held a policy of non-intervention. In retrospect, no one, but no one, disagrees that Hitler had to be stopped.
Shortly after the Iraq war was started, a very honest journalist went to Baghdad looking for Iraqis who would back up his presuppositions that Iraqis despised Americans. What he found instead was a man who had had his ears cut off by Hussein, among other torture victims, saying, "Thank God for the mother of George Bush." I heard on the radio a commentator say, when you see an advancing force coming over the hill, no matter what country you are, you hope they're carrying the American flag.
Even as a pacifist, when I hear about little boys being paraded around naked in front of their mothers and being beaten on their genitals with chords, in attempts to get a confession from these so-called "enemies of the state," I get so angry my hands start to shake. No one, NO ONE, who says the war in Iraq is wrong is leading the charge to return Saddam Hussein to power. Think about that.
A better question is, why haven't we gone into the Darfur region and ended the ethnic cleansing there?

Why do we have such short memories?
After the attacks of 11 September 2001, President Bush addressed a joint session of the United States Congress.
He said this war would be global, fought in many countries, last a long time, maybe beyond our lifetimes, and much of it would be secret.
He said there would be many heroes whom we would never know about, for their valorous deeds must be kept secret.
I suspect there's a lot more to the actions in Iraq that we're not told, and will probably never know about.

It was wrong because there was no attack on the US in any way from the Iraqis, in contrast to Afghanistan, where the Taliban supported Al-Qaeda, who was responsible for 9/11.
I hate to say it, but if anyone believes that the war in Iraq is about anything other than oil, you're dreaming.

I've yet to see a credible answer as to how the situation would have been handled without an invasion of Iraq. People seem to forget that one of the reasons the US got hit on 9/11 was because we had troops in Saudi and the troops were in Saudi to counter Saddam. Status quo wasn't working.
It is always easy to Monday Morning Quarterback. Saddam definitely had used chemical weaspons in the past and many gov'ts around the world were certain he still had that capability. People are quick to jump on President Bush but seem to forget that Congress authorized military action.

During the Saddam era around 7 thousand innocent people died in Iraq over a period of 14 years.
After Saddam left 250,000 innocent people died in 3 years under the US sponsored liberation.

The war on Iraq was completely wrong. This is how it started, Al-Queda attacked the world trade center, they live in Afghanistan. Bush,of course wanted them out, he went to Afghanistan. and then decided he wanted to go Iraq too, as Saddam has WMD(which was a false claim, as he mainly wanted the oil). Attacked Iraq, didn't find the WMDs, caused chaos and the loss of of American and allied troops lives, and innocent civilians. And what did he get out of all of this, oil!!

Let's just put it this way, is it "right" for all these men and women to die, lose limbs, suffer terrible emotional scars AND the Iraqi citizens to be injured and killed in countless military campaigns and from countless suicide bombers and other planted explosives?
I mean, people will complain about taxes or anything else but they'll ignore some serious stuff like this and put some stupid "Support Our Troops" sticker on their car.

I believe the War is justified. Saddam is no longer in power, and we have/are replacing their government.
I know that 3,000 soldiers have been lost, but when you think about what has been accomplished, I think our cause for being over there is justified.

Would it be safe to say that those in the intellgience community have alittle more knowledge about world affairs than where we derive our sources of information? (CNN, Foxnews, The Daily Show, Ny Times)
I think we should leave the opinions to those who to have the knowledge to have one...
