I couldn't think of a much better way other than what you have suggested. We should respect and surrender ourselves to the God. It seems to be no other choice , after all our soul will return to where it belongs.

this question is not an either or one. if we surrender to God, tha is respect. to surrender to god means to have complete faith in Him. in doing so, we are respecting Him by placing our trust, faith and hope in Him.
