It doesn't conflict with my life at all.
In fact, I've given very pretty scarves to my Muslim friend to use as hijab.
Because she's my friend, I've noticed what colors she likes to wear, and gotten her scarves that compliment her color choices.
Why not? I'm her friend, and to me that means that I support her in HER decisions about her life, rather than try to get her to validate MINE.
In any case, do any of you who think this is a bad thing have a problem with nuns covering their hair and wearing very modest clothing?

The concensus seems to be that we see it's not a Muslim woman's choice, as you suggest. It's something that's pushed onto them, according to the sect to which they belong. If it TRUELY was voluntary, and not forced onto the woman by her husband, family, or religious leader(s), then it would be a great thing.
Frankly, looking at young people today, I wonder whether some MEN shouldn't be covered! Pants are worn down below the touchas, no shirt or see-through shirt, etc. Some men nowadays would do well to learn modesty, too!
But back to your question, I don't have any hateful comments about the women who cover up. But I am angry at those who FORCE a woman to do so, for no other reason than it is tradition.
Peace.

I don't have any hateful comments. I just wonder why muslim women feel so much shame, that they cover up their face? Why is it alot of muslim women in a muslim countries are trying take the veil off as soon as possible, and the muslim women in western countries are trying to wear it when they sleep? maybe just maybe muslim women should figure out what they want to do with their head and then just do it.

It doesn't. I've never had a hateful comment about a Muslim woman who covers herself. FYI, it's not just Muslims who cover themselves, many religions do that though, I do believe it's the Muslims who take it to the extreme of covering their entire bodies.
My job, as a Christian, is to preach the Good News about Jesus and salvation to everyone. Including the Muslim woman who chooses to cover herself. Why am I considered hateful when I do that?

People are often hateful and mean when they see someone who is different than they are. It's like they don't understand it because it's not how THEY are, so they are going to make fun of it. It's a shame people are like that. Americans do that within their own society too. For example, I saw someone who was walking & dressed in all black get laughed/made fun of by a passing car. I suppose it's human nature to discriminate against people who are different.
Personally I think we should go about our business and be who we are. If that bothers someone else, that's their own problem.

It doesn't bother me.
I think most people are bothered because they are racist and ignorant. In the USA, we easily define the line between church and state. Most Americans can not comprehend that in other countries, religion in a way of life. In some countries, the church IS the state.
In the USA, if you go to church once a week, you are considered "religious" to most. Most of us that attend church do not live our everyday lives according to the bible. On the other hand, most Muslims do. They dress in traditional garments, pray 3-4 times a day, and follow the rules on a daily basis. I think there people who feel "conflicted" with others dressing up, do so because they are ignorant to other people's beliefs. They feel that it is easier to just discriminate then to take the time to understand.

Doesn't bother me in the least. I had quite a lot of friends in college who were Muslim, and they did. Most wore hijab, but one or two were niqab wearers. The entire idea is to see the person inside, not the outer shell, and people seem to not get that. They'd rather be mean and insult.

The concern is that it isn't a choice. If it is, great.
And that whole "covering up is a security threat" argument is BS. People who support that are just looking for a reason to discriminate against these people. And it makes me angry.

Perhaps if Muslim countries were known for their just and equal treatment of women there wouldn't be such suspicion. As long as the opposite is true, women who cover themselves will be seen by many as victims of abuse, whether they're willing victims or not.

No one cares whether muslim women wear the hijab+niqab (cover up) or not. However, for security reasons, they should not cover up when required not to do so, like going through security, being in public places, while working (like as a teacher, while teaching). The act of covering up poses a threat to everyone else, its like you need to hide something.
