Ah, silly Samson. First Delilah with-held a few favours and generally drove him up the wall, then she sang him THAT song: "Moncoeur s'ouvre a ta voix" (as Camille Saint-Saens told us in his opera, 'Samson and Delilah'). Poor Samson didn't stand a chance:

My actual birth name is Samson, and I believe that the longer his hair was, the stronger he became. So short hair meant not as strong. Big mop of hair meant Mega Strength!

Long hair was once thought to contain strength. If Samson had cut his hair that would have signified weakness.

Samson was a Nazarite and was not allowed to cut his hair. He was in obedience to what God commanded of him.
