Pre-natal = before the baby is born.
Depression = feeling like crap

So pre-natal depression means you're feeling really crappy (possibly down on yourself, possibly doubting your parenting abilities, possibly feeling you just can't do this) right now, due to the massive hormone swells of pregnancy.

Diagnosing is all fine and dandy -- did he give you any help in DEALING with it? I've included a few links below that may help.

You need some supportive people around you... (((hugs))))

during early pregnancy you have massive amounts of hormones rushing around and that can trigger a depression jsut like the drop of hormones after birth cause 'postpartum' depression.
