Not sure if you are really looking for this type of answer but I found a great commentary about it and I would like to share it with you.
Jacob was the schemer, the man who thought he could live on his own, by his wits and by his own efforts. He went out trying to deceive everybody and ended up being deceived. Jacob is a beautiful picture of sanctification, that marvelous work of God in which we in our folly, attempting to live life in the energy of the flesh, are led into the very situations that drive us into a corner where at last, like Jacob wrestling with the angel, we discover God speaking to us and we give up. And when we give up our trying, we begin to live. That is what Jacob did when he gave up at the Brook of Peniel, knowing Esau was waiting with a band of armed men ready to take his life. He wrestled with the angel of God at the brook; it was there that God broke Jacob. And as a broken man, limping the rest of his life, he became Israel, prince of God. What a lesson that is. Some of us are going through this very experience right now. What an encouragement to us!

Yaaqob (Jacob) found The House of Yahweh and he struggled with the authority a Priest that was placed over him teaching him the way of Yahweh which was totally different from the way of the world (keeping the Laws of Yahweh). He prevailed, meaning he overcame the world, (sin).
Gen 32:24 And Yaaqob (Jacob) was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

God is true to His Word.
What He says in His Word will stand forever.
He tells us that we must remind Him of His Word. (Not because He forgets, but because we grow strong and are empowered by faith Rom 4:20)
If we know the Word of God, we know His every move, therefore we can corner him in a wrestling match.
Remember that the old testament is a reflection of the new.
Also when God changed Jacob’s walk, it’s a reflection of God that changes our walk to walk the road with Him.
After you’ve had an encounter with God you will never walk the same again.
So what did Jacob win then? Favor, peace and everlasting life!
God cannot be defeated; this match had nothing to do with overcoming God, it had to do with Jacob finding out what was in his heart, putting his unconditional faith in God, and holding on until the breakthrough came, to overcome his own fears and weakness…and that is why God blessed him.

Jacob did not wrestle with God. He wrestled with Jehovah's angel. During the contest, the angel touched the socket of Jacob’s thigh joint, throwing it out of place. The result was that Jacob walked with a limp. (Ge 32:24-32) Jacob thereafter had a reminder that, although he had “contended with God [God’s angel] and with men so that [he] at last prevailed,” as the angel said, he did not in reality defeat a powerful angel of God. It was only by God’s purpose and permission that Jacob was allowed to contend with the angel, so as to provide proof of Jacob’s great appreciation of the need of God’s blessing.

The purpose of that story is to show that Jacob's name was changed to Israel which is to show that his character has been changed. Abram and Sara's names were also changed and remained changed throughout the Bible. However, Jacob's name continues to change throughout the rest of the Bible -- sometimes it's Jacob and sometimes it's Israel. This shows that his character changes from the impulsive Jacob to the wiser and more thoughtful Israel, but he often reverts to impulsive behavior. As Israel, he becomes the father of the 12 tribes of Judah -- the Israelites. To this day the name Israel denotes both the land of Israel and the people, Israel.

A) I believe he wrestled with the pre-incarnate Jesus. B) I don't think Jacob "won" really, it has been a long time since I studied that story from the bible, but if I remember correctly it was wrote to teach a lesson. I think if he "won" Jesus let him "win"

It was a test to see Jacobs determination. In the end he didn't win, he was just granted his hearts desire because he didn't back down. That's what God wants out of all of us.

God wrestled as a man and then decided to put Jacob's hip out of joint.
God will manifest Himself any way He chooses, I am that I am.
Gen.32:24-30 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a Man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when He saw that He prevailed not against him, He touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, Let Me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me.
27 And He said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And He said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked Him, and said, Tell me, I pray Thee, Thy name. And He said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after My name? And He blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
