How is America affected by the media today. There are 3 types of media - First is the traditional Print media (New York Times, etc). Next is the Electronic media that is corporately controlled (Major Networks, Cable Networks, Radio). Finally, there is the blogosphere, where John Q. Public can offer information that the other 2 won't touch for commercial or political reasons.
Traditional Print Media is largely controlled by interests that do not have the overall interests of the country at heart.
Electronic Media has the same problems, but the nature of the beast allows for some breakdown of the controlling interests.

We talk about this all the time so here it goes:
There is no such thing, at this date in the world's history, in America, as an independent press.
There is not one Journalist who dares to write their honest opinions, and if they did, it would never appear in print. They are paid weekly for keeping their honest opinion out of the papers they are connected with, and any of them who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the street looking for another job.
An independent press? They are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. They pull the strings and the press dances.
The press feeds the american people just enough to keep them afraid of what is out there, but not enough to know that the government is what we need to fear.
The press keeps the "Sheeple" afraid that the gay might marry "and ruin it for everyone", when they should be looking very hard at our president and the lies he tells and the civil liberties he has stolen from the american people under the guise of a "War on Terror".
How can you have a War on an adjective? Isn't that just grammer?
Some interesting quotes:
Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."
John Swinton - New York Times - New York Press Club(1)
~~~~~~
"The news and truth are not the same thing."
Walter Lippmann, American journalist, 1889-1974
~~~~~~
"News is what someone wants to suppress. Everything else is advertising."
Rubin Frank, former president NBC News
~~~~~~
"We tell the people what they need to know, not what they want to know."
Frank Sesno, CNN News
~~~~~~~
"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
Richard Salent, former pres. CBS News
These quotes are telling us a whole lot of what is going on. There is no independent press, and there is no objective mass media.
Control of the population via mass media is not a new thing, I believe it was Mousalini that said control the media, and you control the people. Other dictators like Hitler knew that as well.
The mainstream media are controlled by the Elite of Government and business. They are the ones who decide what will be printed in the press, and what will be announced in the News. This means that our reality is severely distorted by lies, half truths and propaganda that these people feed us with on a daily basis.
What is written in the papers and announced on CNN will be the norm, but is not what is really happening. When the heads of the media also attend the same meetings as the Elite businessmen (Bilderberg, Trilateral Commission and Council of Foreign Relations) and nothing that is discussed on these meetings can be revealed outside those doors, we understand that the media is not there for us, but for them.
The British author David Icke explains it perfectly:
"... Control of the newspapers through subordinates like the "owner" of the "Washington Post", Katherine Graham (Bil, TC, CFR)(4) and the Canadian, Conrad Black, an inner-core member of the Bilderberg Group, who heads the Hollinger media empire. This includes the London "Daily Telegraph", the "Jerusalem Post", and has owned some 70% of newspapers in Canada. Members of these organisations control all three television networks in the United States, NBC, ABC, and CBS. They also control the "Los Angeles Times", "New York Times", "Wall Street Journal", and the empires of Rupert Murdoch, "Time Warner", including "CNN", and the major media operations throughout the world. Even four out of five local newspapers in the UK are now owned by the big media cartels."
This guy thinks of them as the "illuminati", I however am not sure such an organizations exists, but it would seem like it does.
Just some food for thought.
