I work in a store that has ceramic tile and designers who do new homes with tile all the time. The size we use most often is 6x6. Occasionally we also do 4x4. Those sizes allow for beautiful patterns and decos and listellos to be used. I can't think of a time that we used 12x12 for a backsplash. I suppose you could but they would be pretty uninteresting. Hope this helps a little.

I have 4 inch square tile as my backsplash. You and turn the tile in a different position (with point going up) and it will create a design. My counter top is also with the 4 inch tile. Good luck.

You could really use any size that you find appealing, but you should consider how you're going to clean the backsplash. If it's a smooth surface, it will be easier to clean. If you go with 1" tiles, cleaning would be more involved than with 12" tiles.

It all depends on the scale and proportion of the other details in your kitchen. Is it a small kitchen with small scale details? If so go with the 4 to 6 inch size. If you have a large kitchen with large scale details then you could go with larger tiles. 12 inch tiles look interesting on the diagonal with clipped corners and inserts. Go to you local tile distributors with a picture of your kitchen. The designers there will help you with ideas.

i could flow with a prosperous variegated tumbled stone. it could have some lighter streaks in it yet you like some deeper tone. I see that your floor is darkish adequate to floor the room, that's solid. The well-known coloration interior the tiles may be a shade which you like, i.e. darkish green, tan or taupe, whichever is captivating to you. Log onto some web content, merely form kitchen tiles and a lot of judgements arise. pick any of those and then inspect categories, glass, mosaic, stone etc. solid success
