In the past when I ate at a home of the English the food was really over cooked. I hope it is not the same in England now.

Not only one time or one family. That was the norm and I sure hope it is not now.

I grew up in both the US and England. Yes once upon a time the English had a reputation for overcooking food....a well deserved one. Foods come a long way since then. But then again americans were the same for a very long time. Particularly in the South.

No they don't

English cooking is as good or bad as in any other country

My abiding memory of eating in many different places in USA is of over-large portions of very bland food with steak being served bloody and luke warm YEUCH.

If you undercook food you don't kill off the bacteria which is always present

How come your experience of ONE English person's cooking leads you to state that the English overcook their food?

No, we're a lot better now. In fact although it seems strange to say it, English cuisine is now pretty good.
