Affordable way to get there would be taking a plane down there during winter (not holiday season though) or at least not from summer, and instead of taking direct flights taking flights that stop at places.
Affordable way to stay there (if thats what ur wondering too) i would say rent a room. Wherever u go there should be renting places. Since u speak english, if u have like a college or university degree u wont have a hard time finding a job like teaching english. Try to find someone in korea for help!

first of all which part of Korea? Seoul, North, South, Asan what? just call up the airlines and ask them the cheapest tickets u can reserve
